You have hit on two very important aspects of existence and awareness , namely objectivity , and perspective .

We are products of our environment , and our society , and it is very challenging to be able to see anything outside of that context .

To really do that requires transcendence , which does not come easy .

To me , your question begs another . Namely , why do we do anything ?

Quite often , the answer is , it feels good . Or , it helps us avoid pain and suffering .

We really are just a bunch of silly , hairless monkeys , after all , surrounded by technologies that the vast majority of us do not even comprehend the workings of .
