Importance of rest days

I find that applying a workout mentality to PE to be crucial, IE. On and off days. Using this pattern, I alternate PE 4 days a week followed by 3 days a week. And keep going back and forth. So far so good.

I probably shouldn’t be reviving such an old thread but the debate in it fascinating. I do have a few thoughts overall however.

When you are first starting out you have no real idea what your dick can handle yet, so newbies should definitely incorporate scheduled rest to avoid a possible injury. Once this is done say in 2 or 3 months, you should have a general idea on if what you are doing is too much or not enough. Generally it’s better to be safe than sorry. My opinion is that everyone is different in this regard.

Me personally especially when I hang I don’t generally schedule rest days. I think it’s counterproductive. If, however I feel that I might need a day off then I take one. If my life gets a little hectic and I need a few days off of PE then I take it. If I do have to take a few days off I will at least try to get some manual stretching done.

When talking about jelquing, clamping, pumping etc, I personally think resting is a lot more important. The question is how much rest does one actually need? Maybe it’s a day off every 2 days. Maybe it’s a day off a week. Heck it could be a day off a month. Or maybe 6 weeks straight of PE followed by a week’s rest. I really think it depends on the individual and how your penis responds to the trauma you are putting it through. I also think that some people can gain without any rest days whatsoever, by taking advantage of a light day here and there as they need it.

I’m not even going to try to explain the science of any of this because frankly I don’t even understand some of it. Bottom line is this though. Whether or not you need rest days is completely up to you in the end. Some need them some don’t. That’s why you still see people gain from both schools of thought. Your PI’s tell a story and it’s definitely worth listening to.

2011 BPEL 5.65 MSEG 4.125

2021 7 5/8 X 5 3/8

Goal: Just keep on trucking

I believe rest days are important. I have had steady growth, no injuries, and no negative indicators doing so.

And, when these fibers are not under stress they heal - not grow. I also believe that my body resists this elongation by laying down more collagen during the healing process. That’s why I try very, very hard to not take too much time off between PE sessions.

I agree. Let us not forget that penis is not a muscle per se.

Not ENTIRELY, no. But there is smooth muscle, and the degree to which hyperplasia/hypertrophy is involved in what we do has been a long topic of discussion.

I think that rest days are inevitable - and the degree to which you program for them is going to depend on what specific type of adaptation you are speaking about. Adaptations such as lengthening of ligaments, not really useful; when we’re talking about heavy girth work, lots of intense jelqs, etc then I tend to think that not programming for rest days is risky and not all that rewarding.

2012-ish: ~5.75in BPEL/4.75in MSEG

2021: 184mm/7.26in BPEL; 175mm/6.9in BPFSL; 135mm/5.3in MSEG; 138mm/5.4in BSEG

Roughly 98% of 2012 - 2021 PE efforts were manual work - Persistence wears down resistance

Except that is difficult to isolate the ligaments from the remainder of the penis when performing specific exercises, so the penis tends to be impacted by all forms of PE. Thus, rest days are needed to maintain EQ even if you do not think there is a benefit from “healing”.

Initial: 7” BPEL; 6” NBPEL; 5.25” - 5.5” MEG

Current: 7-7/8” BPEL; 7-3/8” NBPEL; 8.5” BPFSL; 6.5” MEG; 6”x5” Flaccid.

Goal: Improved/consistent EQ while managing ED. Secondary: maintain current stats.

I’m in 100% agreement and that’s how I program MY practice - I just didn’t want to rile up the crowd that beats the “stretch adaptation isn’t affected by rest days” drum.

I personally program rest days within the week, and rest weeks between mesocycles.
