Just bought my infra red light.

Dangleman,

I apply the heat lamp and cool down after my stretching sessions. I do not know what drives my gains (stretching intensity, heat lamp and/or cooling down). But it works for me in that combination and I am not going to change anything to the setting as long as I see gains. So I guess that’s a “thumbs-up” for cooling down, at least for me.

I guess it is just up to you, to try it out for yourself. By the way, I cool down in the shower with freezing cold water for a couple of minutes.

I cant say enough good things about infrared myself. I packed on a solid .5” in about 60 days time. The only downfall Ive experienced is it can be a little difficult to grab if your skin starts to perspier from the heat. I purchased a metal heat lamp (only rated for 100 watts) at Home Depot for about $5.00 and Ive had no issues using a 250 Watt Infrared Bulb.

I wonder if the infrared rays have any effect on your sperm?

Guys: I agree with you about the wonders of IR. I went to Walmart per this thread and got a 250W IR bulb and ceramic socket reflector, and point it down at my unit and do the regular stuff - jelq, squeezes, pulls.

I think I will ADD an icepack or something for a stretched cool-down.

I’m going to add a pump, too . . looking for the best one.

*I measure PRE-WORKOUT, normal erection* Started: 7 EBP x 4.9 EG. Several years on and off PE, now 8.125 EBP length x 5.5 EG midshaft (5.8 base). Working on girth (clamping) again after breaks due to injuries - fast recent gains! Pics

Couldnt find this stuff at Wal-Mart. Anybody care to show some pictures (off of Walmart’s site if possible) of what I need to look for? Or maybe another place I can find it ( would prefer not ordering it off the internet)?

Yeah, I went last night and I couldn’t find anything. I was in the hardware dep’t, looking for the ceramic light socket/reflector lamp combo and the IR bulb (like sparkyx said) and I couldn’t find shit. Granted, I am a bit “hardware challenged” but I need some more explanations to aid me in my search.

What do they look like sparkyx?

Would tanning in a tanning salon have the same effect?

I don’t plan on doing my PE session during my tanning session, but was just wondering if it helps?

I don’t know for sure, but I would expect tanning tubes to have a spectrum based largely around the UV frequencies with little regard for IR. I’m sure there must be some IR in there since they generate heat, but it would likely be far less effective than using a cheap IR lamp.

Anyone in Aus buy one? If so, where?

FP,

whenever I use the IR-Lamp (usually for girth work), I use a little bit of skin lotion to minimize the negative effects of the heat (usually dries-out my skin).

Perhaps that will help you too.

Hey guys, sorry if its been covered elsewhere, but would an IR lamp make for a suitable warm up tool? At the moment I use a hot compress gel pack, which I don’t think is doing my skin any good. After reading this post I’m very interested in getting a lamp for my routine, it would be cool if it served more than one purpose.

Also what is the “normal” use for an IR lamp?

Cheers

“Bronzing” is of concern to me: I only started in November but can already see that I am darker skinned. Given that some threads on here recommend heat (or hot wrapping) as a preventative measure, do you think that using an IR lamp during/after PE is a good idea?

It isn’t covered “elsewhere”, it is covered in this VERY THREAD. Go back and read over the other posts first. In the future, be more careful about asking repeated questions. :)

I went to Walmart and got a 250W IR bulb and a ceramic socket reflector. I used it for the first time yesterday and it seems like a great addition to my current routine. I’m going to continue using it consistently for a few months to see if I get better results. I’ll try to keep you guys posted.

When you say bronzing, are you saying you’re getting a tan like with UV light? If that’s the case then I’d try to find out what areas of the spectrum the bulb is covering. I use an infrared heatpad rather than a lamp so there is no visible light and no discolouration.

I think what you might instead be experiencing is iron retention in the skin due to jelqing. I don’t know much about this but maybe others could chime in as to whether that’s the case, and if it can be chelated out.

XL,
I guess the information is available when I read more carefully and use some common sense. After all anything that penetrates the body’s tissues by over an inch and heats them must be a good warm up tool.

As for the question regarding the “normal” use of IR lamps, I guess I should have worded that better, I meant what the IR lamp manufacturers intend them to be used for. But i looked on the Boots website and found the answer:

“This 100W lamp produces infra-red radiation which penetrates deeply into the skin
Suitable for muscular pain & cold symptoms”

The moral of the story is (as it says to the left of the very box I am typing into) “think before you post!”

Sorry guys
