At what percentage should you be erect for best gain in jelqing?

I have been at about 80% and maybe 50% for sessions. I found that the higher the % the better grip i could get at the base without having to move much skin yet i find less rednessor bruising with lower %.

My desire right now is length, so would about what % should i be in order to reap the most?

In theory the less erect the better the length gains (but too low, like under 40% and baseball bats are around the corncer). I think the reasoning is that the grip with a lower erection is better at producing a continuous stretch with every stroke and strokes are more likely to end in a stretch at the glans.

Personaly I jelq at around 90% and seem to gain length mostly (and the girth I put down to a small number of horse440’s).

I have seen the bat syndrome, however my unit is the same thickness from the base to about 3/4 then it starts to thin out as it reaches the head.

As the wife would say its very decieving since it looks small at the head but has this thick shaft. Do you think this will work to my benefit and allow me to gain more length?

Good question. Not sure. Taking the rubber band theory the smaller the girth the easier to stretch. But personally I disagree with that :) I think its quite possible to have small girth and highly obstinate ligaments and more girth doesn’t necessarily mean more hard to stretch tissue, but hey I’m going against the flow on that one.

Also I’m not 100% sure on where growth happens, a few people (me included) note skin growth at the base but does that mean the most active portion of growth is near the base? Probably not.

Bib users attach the device around 1” before the glans so the force is mostly located near the base and that works. What I don’t know is whether those of us that stretch, gripping at the head, are increasing are chances of growth by effectively pulling on a greater length in the first place (assuming the force of hanging can be equaled).

Guess I should do some more reading :)

You bring up some really good thought provoking questions here- and I hope a lot of guys chime in on this one.

As you can imagine, I think the thicker the penis is the harder it will be to elongate. This applies only when PE exercises have been done over a period of time to achieve girth, however. The reason I limit it to PE gained girth is because the scar tissue will be greater and it will be more difficult to lengthen. If a guy has a naturally thick penis and has done no PE to add girth, I think the length can be achieved if that is the focus.

IMHO growth occurs everywhere. The idea is, as Bigger has said, to divide and conquer. I do not think this applies only to the ligs- it applies to all the tissues. IOW, I think you have to focus the majority of your effort on one thing at a time to achieve the stresses necessary to achieve growth. When I am stretching skin, I focus on getting through that barrier so I can the focus on the ligs. This focus would apply to all PE techniques for optimal results. As the saying goes- ‘Jack of all trades, Master of none.’ Focusing on one growth aspect at a time should in theory at least promote optimal results.

You are correct that the Bib is placed 1” behind the glans for a good portion of hanging time. I personally move it around on the penis to prevent fatigue or overcompression of the tissues in the penis. However, we place the Bib there because it will generally slide a bit forward and rest just behind the glans- which provides the same type of stretching emphasis as you would get from manually grasping around the glans. Some of us do move the hanger all the way to the base for some of the sessions to focus on skin and tunica stretching.

So is sense it would be that those with natural girth to focus on length first in order to solidify gains without having to first overcome scar tissue from girth training?

That is correct in my theoretical concepts, but not everyone believes this to be the case.

Thought of something else while doing some stretches in the shower at the gym tonight;

It would make sense that in the begining, that the softer (50-70%) the more you would work the interior blood vessels since the plyability is still fairly high. I know and have read that the more advanced you become, the more you work the exterior vessels.

So for us newbies, a few months of softer interior jelqing would “in theory” allow for more gains in both girth and length since the interior would be more “enlarged” then the exterior. However after a few months it would make sense to start jelqing at a higher % (80-90) in order to work the exterior vessels. However since you would still be working the whole penis, maybe jelqing more on the top and underside would allow for more interior enlargement vs. the side pressure in the begining since you can squeeze more.

any thoughts?

Work the Girth...

I’ve noticed that with a 10 minute heat warm up, I am able to jelq and squeeze at a higher erection, or at least blood level than without. I would imagine that would affect what “optimal” would be depending on your goals…without a heat warmup, at about 70-80% it starts feeling hard and unpliable (and unproductive), whereas with the warmup, it seems to engorge further and I can get to 90% erection and still be soft for bloodflow purposes and get some nice engorgedness (if that is even a word).
