Silicone Sleeves - Make your own

I purchased all the supplies to start making my own sleeves. The 3/8” galvanized pipe was a “nipple” pipe. I’m assuming this is because it tapers at the ends. Is this the kind shown in the pictures?

In plumbing and piping , a nipple is a fitting, consisting of a short piece of pipe , usually provided with a male pipe thread at each end, for connecting two other fittings. - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nipple_(plumbing)

That’s one of the inner pieces I used. Also tried different pvc pieces as well to produce a different sleeve thickness until I found what worked best for me. Can’t remember exactly which inner piece I ended up with and I gave all my molds away. :(

I’m sorry, perhaps I’m a bit slow but would it be possible to upload some sort of video explaining and demonstrating exactly what needs to be done?

Thanks for the explanation, glad I bought the right pipe!

I made my first sleeve a couple days ago and given that I messed up a little on the construction it still turned out alright and I’m very satisfied with the durability. I used it with the VacADS headpiece in order to do some manual stretches (the sleeves that came with it ran out of steam after months of use) and the grip was excellent and I could feel the stretch at the base of the shaft.

I bought the end caps that are rounded as I didn’t take the time to see if any had flat ends, so trying to drill out a perfectly centered piece was hard given I don’t do a lot of woodwork or other tasks requiring precise drilling. Also I ended up making the whole slightly too big so I used some Teflon tape in order for the bolt to stay put when it was pushed into the bottom cap. I bought a threaded 1/2" by 2" bolt (going to try and find a bolt without threads the next time I visit Home Depot) and it was a bit of a bitch trying to get it inside the 3/8" pipe. I ended up tapping it in with a hammer and using a monkey wrench to screw the pipe onto the bolt. Unfortunately this put the pipe at a slight angle which made the sleeve a little thicker on one side even with some repositioning once the silicon mixture started to harden. It didn’t hurt the functionality of the sleeve but I’ll get it right when I make the next mold. I bought enough pieces for two sets of each size mentioned in the initial post.

I purchased 6" pipe and cut the PVC to 6" as well since I wanted both ends open and didn’t have to fill past the top of the inner piece. I used a tablespoon to measure out equal parts and found that 4 tablespoons or roughly 50ml of each component was nearly the exact amount needed to fill the 6" mold, with just a slight bit extra. I didn’t have a perfect seal on all parts so there was a slight bit of leakage, but as you can imagine once it sets up the rest isn’t going anywhere. This was mostly due to the drilling of the end piece and that I didn’t make 100% perfect cuts with the razor blade when cutting the two outer mold pieces in half. Making one small slice after another to cut the PVC is easier said than done. I may use a hacksaw next time.

I allowed the mixture to setup for 8 hours before I took off the rubber bands used to keep the outer pieces of the mold sealed together and since I couldn’t remove the metal pipe from the mold, given that the bolt is permanently screwed in, I rolled from the top downward as far as I could in order to separate the sleeve from the pipe. Once I got that loose I started to work the end near the cap until the sleeve was loose enough to slide off. I gave it a few stretches, rolled it up as if I were going to get ready to put it on the VacADS head piece and was quite satisfied with what I had. I left it overnight since and have used it for several stretching sessions without any problems whatsoever. The 3/8" inner mold setup makes a heavy duty sleeve but it can be rolled, you just can’t be as lax when holding it in place when preparing to let it "snap" onto the penis.

I’m curious if adding food coloring to the solution will have any negative effects, in case I wanted to create a green or blue sleeve, lol.

I’ll try to take a series of step by step pictures in the next couple of days when I build my second mold.

Nicely done Narcosynth. I used a saw (bandsaw) for later molds too as the utility knife was tough. It does make a tighter mold as some pvc is lost in the kerf of the saw, but it is very acceptable.

Get the bolt end a little looser so it slides off and removing the finished sleeve will be a lot easier. Not too loose of course.

Don’t know about food coloring, Smooth-on does make a pigment that can be added if you really want color that bad. ;)

Hey TPS, your idea is fantastic, I live in the UK, and I do not know which silicone to get, I have seen one on ebay, but I wanted to ask you, and other members if they feel this one is suitable for the job. Thank you,

I googled silicon rubber rtv 500 and found it has a hardness of 25 SHORE. I’m not entirely sure if the rtv 500 I found is the same one as your link but if it is then you should be fine (you could email the seller to be sure). TPS used silicon rubber with a hardness of 30 SHORE.

The Eco-flex 0030 that I used is below the SHORE A scale. The 00 before the 30 is the key. The 25 SHORE product you mentioned won’t be flexible enough to work at this mold thickness. Maybe if the sleeve was very thin? The wiki link below mentions a rubber band being 25A similar to the material posted above. Too stiff for this design.

  • Ecoflex® 00-30 - Shore 00-30 hardness (below the Shore A scale)

I didn’t even know about the different scales. Good to know :)

how resistant and durable are those sleeves ?

Thanks for sharing your knowledge tps, I have emailed the ebay seller, but he has not yet replied. Will keep everyone updated.

The seller replied by saying the softest material they have is A12-15. Would this be soft enough? I really want to make these sleeves. Thanks

His response

"Hi, sorry we don’t have anything that soft realy in stock. We can special order it but it’s 25kg minimum and between £16 -£22 perkg dependant on the material chosen. We don’t have any samples to send either of it as it’s a special. Normally we only have A12-15 grade which I can sell you a smaller qty ie. 1kg kit for same price as the listed A25 grade. This grade is highly elastic with elongation over 600%. Used for casting delicate figures and skin miulding for antique reproductions”

snake88, Smooth-On has a list of distributors for outside the US. For the UK they have Bentley Chemicals Ltd. listed. They should be able to ship you any Smooth-On product you want.

Yeah I know, I have asked them if they sell to general public, they have sent me price list. I have emailed them back asking for total cost including VAT and shipping. I am still waiting for email. But I am guessing the final price might be around £65 ish. Very expensive compared to how cheap in states.
