I remember handling these when I was in Japan a long time ago. I found them intriguing. A normal can is reportedly 8 inches in circumference. I don’t know the circumference of these other ones, tell me if you do.

Hey, those cans were made in Hungary. There’s a label on both that says “CUKORMENTES” which means Sugar Free in Hungarian. Are you sure you were in Japan?

DirkGently that can is from Hungary, you are correct. I was in Japan back in the 80’s as a kid and 2004 recently. Japan is the first place I’d seen the skinny cans. It has since spread, I don’t know if it is the true origin. I posted that pic to illustrate the size differences.
