After reading this thread: Standing up, my EQ sucks. Advice?, I’ve been doing my kegels routine both standing up and sitting down instead of only doing them sitting down as I’ve done in the past. My only problem with this is I’ve noted extreme lower back pain shortly after doing the kegels standing up. I’m sure if I looked into it, this would anatomically make sense, but does anyone have any method (other than sitting down) to alleviate the onset of this pain?

Are you sure it isn’t caused by stretching?

Stretching? What kind of stretching? PE stretching? Lower back stretching? If so for either of those, pretty sure. This is a recent occurrence.

Marinera means something more like physical activity stretching. Like touching your toes. Are you sure there isn’t another cause? Were you trying to give yourself a blow job or something :)

You’d have to be doing some kind of crazy kegals to mess up your back!

I’ve done kegals in every position possible (seems like) and I’ve never had a problem.

When kegeling you’re probably recruiting other nearby skeletal muscles as well, I guess. How long has this been happening? If my idea is correct then the muscles should strengthen and the pain should abate within a few days.

I don’t think it matters whether you’re sitting down, laying down or floating through space in null grav when you kegel, though.

I think the guy in that thread might actually have a partial venous leak. If you read the venous leakage threads a number of guys report standing up to cause their erection to die. Not sure on the physiology of this, but instinctively it makes sense to me.

I mean manual stretching, this can cause back pain to some, expecially when done after several hours being sitted.

The only link I can see with Kegel’s is that, standing, you could inadvertently hyperextend your back, putting pressure on the nerves in your low back.

If you had previous back injury like I have kegels standing can cause your back to hurt at least it did to me in the past. I started doing kegels around 2002-03 before PE. I hurt my back before around year 2000 pretty badly blown disc severe Sciatica etc.. When I started doing kegels I know now I was not doing them right I was tightening other muscles like buttocks etc.. it caused the back pain. I finally got them down and my pc muscle got stronger and I no longer contracted the wrong muscles and my back doesn’t hurt during heavy extreme kegels either.

I still suffer occasional back pain from other activities that causes some discomfort when I kegel but sometimes back stretches alleviates this. I also suffer some back pain when standing in one spot that’s why I kegel while sitting it just feels better to me. I think like others said it can be the other muscles near by stretching when they strengthen it should go away unless you have previous injury you may or may not know about.

After I’ve worked out my lower back muscles I tend to feel this because the muscles there is fatigued. Maybe somehow when you do a kegel you flex the lower back muscles as well causing them to fatigue and then causing some pain.

Holy shit!!! Now I know why I had those terrible backaches when I started PE. Thanks to god they don’t occur anymore.

Try stretching your quads, hamstrings and glutes. Like BigBassman and Dicko7x5 mentioned, maybe you’re unknowingly stretching some other muscles too.

Being the lower back it could possibly be your kidneys too. You drink enough water? What about on the day(s) you feel this pain?
