Valve damage!

Guys: this is something I have always worried about with PE.

With certain exercises, we are forcing blood back through valves which were meant to let blood through in one direction only. Especially squeezes. It seems logical this could damage or weaken these valves, compromising the ability to maintain erections, over time. In fact, the reason Viagra works is that it inhibits these valves from opening to release blood out of the penis and back into the body.

If you picture what is going on, this series of valves that close off to keep blood in during an erection, and then you picture a squeeze forcing blood back against these delicate valves in the wrong direction …well, ouch. It only stands to reason …

I can get nice and hard, but I do notice that often my erections subside very quickly unless I stay constantly stimulated. Was it always like this? I don’t know.

*I measure PRE-WORKOUT, normal erection* Started: 7 EBP x 4.9 EG. Several years on and off PE, now 8.125 EBP length x 5.5 EG midshaft (5.8 base). Working on girth (clamping) again after breaks due to injuries - fast recent gains! Pics

As outlined in the following article, Viagra works by increasing the nitric oxide levels in the body which results in the relaxation of the arteries in the penis, allowing more blood flow into the penis. I don’t believe it has any effect on the "valves", but I am no expert.

This would be a good one for westla to comment on.

Here is the article:

There are no valves in the penis (I think), it is the pressure generated on the veins during erection that keeps the blood in.

One foot down...one to go

Rushmore - is this true? I have always thought there WERE valves in the penis. I will research a bit. Anyone else know for sure?

Here are the first two hits I got on the web when researching penile anatomy at medical sites. There ARE valves that complement what the vein pressure does to hold the blood in!:

(First extract) The anatomy of the penis is complex. It is comprised primarily of two cylinders of sponge-like vascular tissue that fill with blood to create an erection. Blood is pumped into the penis under great pressure and a series of valves keep it in the penis to maintain the erection

(second extract) The veins leading from the penis have funnel-shaped valves that reduce the outflow of blood.

Forget what I said about Viagra. That doesn’t matter anyway. What I am talking about is forcing blood through a valve in the wrong direction.

Arteries do not have valves. Veins do have valves. But they play no role in erections. As the corpora cavernosa fill, the tunica compresses the small veins which drain the CC and prevent the blood from leaving. After ejaculation or with decreased stimulation, the inflow of blood slows and the CC release the pressure on the veins, allowing them to drain the CC. The only anti-valve movements in PE are jelq strokes toward the head. The larger veins on the dorsum (top) have valves that keep blood flowing toward the heart. Stroking away from the body is stroking against the valves. I don’t think this is a major problem.

Wow Westla. This is fascinating.

So why isn’t it a problem to force blood under huge pressure against the valves (towards the head)? That even further complicated the problem, to me, because most of my most intense (jelq-type) strokes are towards the head. Why wouldn’t this weaken a valve over time? What would a urologist say, I wonder … I mean, one who wasn’t biased against PE (if there is one).

A urologist would probably say that aggressive jelqing would might risk damaging superficial veins leading to the possibility of phelbitis, incompetent valves, and eventually, varicose veins in the penis.

dangle,

The thing is, there are guys in their sixties and seventies who benefit and make gains from doing PE and if they aren’t blowing out valves, I don’t think a young healthy guy like you has to worry about it.

As long as you have a moderate program and you haven’t turned your cock totally black and blue, I would say you are doing PE in the safe range.

Well, there’s something to be said for having a dinosaur cock while I am sexually active, and if there’s a problem later, just dealing with it through surgery or medication. Cynical yes, but … I’m gonna have so much fun at 9 x 6 that maybe it will be worth it.

Dangleman, I know very well what you are talking about…
I had this problem at the beginning when I attempted to increase base girth (baseball bat penis…) with some horses (are they called that way?), forcing blood from the glans to the base of the penis. My erections suffered clearly from that.

Although there are no valves in the penis, but a valve-type constriction as westla very well explained to us.
Any movement forcing this constriction system has to be expected to weaken it, but in my case I recover all the erection power I had before after stopping the exercise. I don’t remember well how long it took to recover, but not to much…

My recommendation is that when you do such exercises you must very very sure that your constriction at the base are really stopping all the blood from flowing back…
Maybe with a cable clamp at the base is this problem solved.

I would think that if jelqing is done in moderation will only increase/improve your erections as mine have. I also believe that less is more with PE and if you are too aggressive in any way, it will only hurt you.

Definitely as we get older our erections do suffer (ah to be 18 again) but PEing has done nothing but bring me back to those good ol days.

My erections are better than ever - and I can credit only PE with this improvement. If Jelqing poses any dangers in terms of erections, I would say that doing reverse jelqs (towards the body, instead of away from) might possibly enhance the drainage system, making erections mroe difficult to maintain.

If jelqing has damaged my 65 year old penis, I have yet to see it. Au contraire!! I’m getting woodies at ten and eleven o’clock. I can bounce it even higher. :D : My cock is like a rock!! It’s been more than a generation since I had erections like this. Valve damage? I’ll take my chances.

What Westla said might make the argument of not ejaculating for awhile after a workout.
