Plus the zipper seem is on the left on most trousers, making it more comfortable to go that way, think it’s actually a tailoring design. Dress to the left etc.

In light of recent replies, I feel the fact that I am right handed and mine hangs on the right is a pertinent one.

Mine can hang on either side. It just depends. I’ve never noticed that it had a preference.
