Why length before girth?

Why length before girth?

I’ve noticed it seems to be fairly well-accepted here that you should try to gain length before gaining girth. Can anyone explain the logic or science behind this to me? I’ve heard “it’s harder to stretch a thick rubber band than a thin one,” but I’m not so sure that is really how human physiology works. For example, it is actually easier to gain extreme flexibility in your leg muscles the stronger and bigger they are. This is because the body is less afraid of something ripping and will allow the fibers to stretch more. My personal experience with weight-lifting and stretching has borne this out for me.

So anyway, my point is I kind of want to work on length and girth simultaneously, but don’t want to sabotage myself if it really gets harder to gain length the more girth you have…. but I’m really kind of doubtful about that. What if increased girth lets your penis stretch longer because there’s more there to stretch and your body’s not as afraid of something ripping? Or what if (as I suspect) the two types of gain have little or no affect on one another? Have people who began with big girth really had more trouble gaining length than others? Has anybody gained girth first only to find that they can’t make length gains as a result?

So, I don’t mean to step on any toes, as I know this is a commonly-held theory… I’d just like to question it and see if anyone has a more physiology-based reasoning for this.

I think that like you said, it just seems to make sense that if a dick is less thick it will be more prone to deformation.

The thing is that lots of guys get length gains from girth work. After all, a penis that has better blood flow will be bigger. With stretching though, we are trying to cause plastic deformation in the tissues that make up our penises. Of course there is no scientific studies taking biopsies of pe’ers dicks, so in a sense we don’t really know what exactly is happening with our cocks. Personally I am planning to focus purely on engorgement for the next while and see what happens. This is pretty much the strategy that WZ and some other members take. Chasing cubic inches of man meat vs specific dimensions.

That sounds like a good plan. I agree that just engorging as much as possible will probably do both.

It’s precisely because it seems to make sense that I’m questioning it. A lot of things that seem to make sense are wrong. The Earth seems flat, it seems like weight-training would necessarily make you slow and inflexible, etc. If there are good scientific reasons for it or a ton of anecdotal evidence, then I’ll accept it. But just going by what seems true intuitively is a bad strategy, imo.

Here is some data on the subject.

Enter your measurements in the PE Database.

In my opinion this theory is nonsense. Many of the biggest gainers, which I am one, started doing both length and girth work when they where a newbie, with great success. Guys who start with length only are usually the guys who make gains slower on the long run.

My situation is different. See my thread “depression and PE” in the newbie forums. Also, I think length gets confused with size, so if you have a long one, it may be seen as sizeable (altho length and girth are better, obv.), whereas just having a wide one won’t have that same visual effect (again, obv. The best visual effect is length and girth).

Thanks for the info. I’m glad you all are compiling data on the subject to sort out the myths and realities.
