Anyone used Velcro One Wrap for their Wench?

I noticed that Monty’s site suggests using Velcro One Wrap to make a good Wench. Has anyone here tried this? Is it better than the Wench made with Industrial Strength Velcro? Will it be able to hold up to the same weight that I’m using with my current setup? (30lbs.) I’m interested in trying this because I’d like to make a softer & maybe less bulky Wench. Also, is there a better & less bulky way to secure my Wench than using a Cable Clamp? When hanging straight down, it pokes into my leg, unless I spread my legs out more than I’d like & it’s rather annoying. I’d like to be able to release it as quick as with the Cable Clamp, but with something a little less bulky than the clamp. Any suggestions?

Don’t know about solutions for your clamp problems to2004 but I made both my Wenchs from materials supplied from Monty’s PEWeigts site. The Velcro One Wrap is cool to use in place of the 10” strip that is made of velcro soft-side and another 10” strip of velcro catch/hard-side that are combined, which does cut down on the size of the Wench. I actually mainly use a Mini-Wench/Wenchette as we call them here. Which is basically a Wench cut porprotionewty down to the 1” range I believe. This gives a great hang, espeically with the fulcrum rice-sock tecnhqiue being talked about lately (trust me).

I may try this, as I’d like to size my Wench down a bit. My only concern is with regard to how durable the One Wrap is. I’ve read a little about fulcrum hanging. Is it working pretty well for you? I’ve heard that some have doubled their gains from using a fulcrum. Do you apply the rice sock the entire time that you’re hanging?

As for the device that you use to secure your Wench: Do you use the releaseable tie straps that Monty sells? If so, does it require more than one to secure the Wench? Do they work pretty well & give a firm grip? I would like to do away with using the Cable Clamp to secure my Wench, if possible. It’s much too bulky & like I said before, it tends to poke me in the leg, which is annoying.

I’ve been using a 1” wide Wenchette for several months now, and I still love it. I was visiting Monty’s site for a completely different matter and saw the One Wrap. I ordered enough for several Wenchettes. If it’s too flimsy for heavy hanging, it will still be great for an ADS. I currently use the Wenchette as an ADS but find it slightly more bulky than I would like.
