Hanging Weight Progression

Hanging Weight Progression

I have been in PE training for almost two years. I have been using an extender and manual stretches, and pumping for most of that time. Gains have happened and I am happy about that. But I had hit a plateau at 6.5 BPEL and want to achieve a goal at least 8.0. My starting BPEL was 5.25.

In speaking with another PE’er about this he suggested hanging. So, after reading Blink2000’s Hanging 101, I have added hanging to my routine. I have started with 2.5 lbs. for 3 / 20 minute sessions per day. I am still extending with this every other day and pumping 2 days a week with this as well.

I feel as if I can add more weight to the hanging but here is my concern. I definitely want to reach my goal of 8.0 BPEL. If I really feel the stretch at say 5-7.5 lbs., should I increase or stay at the low weight. At this point I want length! I don’t not want to stunt my growth potential by adding too much weight too quickly. Any thoughts from the forum on this would be greatly appreciated.

If you haven’t looked at the threads from the likes of Kyrpa and 5.5squared (amongst others) I would suggest them as a good starting point.

General principle is heat plus minimum weight required to achieve enough strain.

My current approach is based upon this and seems to be slowly but steadily giving results.

11/11/2021 - BPEL:14cm, MSEG:12.5cm

Long term goal - BPEL:18.5cm, MSEG:15cm

(Approx a 90% increase in volume)

Following, as I’m considering adding some hanging to my ADS routine. By the way, what timeframe do you consider gains to have stopped? Multiple months (4 or so) can pass without me getting anything, then all of a sudden I gain 0.5 cm.

Thanks, I will read more from Kypra and 5.5squared to see about their approaches. It is hard for me to be patient here because it has been a while since realizing additional gains. But I believe that slow and steady will eventually kick start me back into gains mode, I hope.

I notice that my gains began to diminish about 5 months ago. I consulted a PE coach who suggested hanging to help stimulate a breakthrough to get me growing again. I have been hanging for 14 days straight as of today.

I am sticking to the 2.5 lbs for a while in hopes that the lower weight and set progression will show results by the end of the year. I am taking ten minute breaks in between my sets and I am currently doing 4 / 20 minute sets and adding one set per week. Any additional suggestions or technique ideas will be greatly appreciated.

Vac hanging and heat. It’s good that you have not gone too heavy.

BPEL: 5.5" --> 7.9" ; BPFSL: ~5.6" --> 8.5"
