Dont over-complicate something simple.
i’ve been doing this for a year or so. I wear a traction wrap that is just tight enough to keep me extended, but does not prevent circulation. I fasten my hanger loosely around that to maintain circulation. Double stick tape between the hanger and wrap helps keep the hanger on without as much tightness.
My weight is a 1 liter plastic bottle 3/4 full of water. I tie a string around the bottle neck, and tie the other end to my hanger. The bottle just hangs over the edge of the bed. The friction of the string on the mattress provides some resistance and allows me to adjust the tension to any comfort level.
I hang both directions - weight between the legs, or over the shoulder. I usually wake up a couple hours later to unwrap. Sometimes it is comfortable enough to stay on all night.
No pulleys or contraptions are necessary. Just hang the weight over the edge of the bed.
I can’t say that it has helped or not, but I figure it is better than not doing it.
