Hi guys

I am wondering if any experienced hanger here gained some length with a lower weight after having hanged a heavier one.

In other words, would hanging 12 pound for some time makes hanging 8 pound totally useless?

I recently came across an article, biologists did an experiment where they stretched tissues until the cells elongated from the stretching. It caused them to divide and multiply at a rate above break even. Break even replication is what a tissue does to maintain it’s size, so for instance, your kidneys never get bigger or smaller. One cell dies off, another healthy one splits in two and replaces the loss. When they stretched cells, they divided at a greater rate than that. They assume that cells like to maintain a certain density per square inch. Stretch them so that you lower that density, they will divide and multiply.

I’m sure there is a lower limit you have to stretch to. Beyond that you get increased cell division, what we would call gains. I bet it’s lower than 12 pounds. That study tells me, it’s time stretched that matters, not weight so much. If you can stretch all day at 8 pounds, and only for 20 minutes until you are worn out and exhausted at 12, then 8 is better.

I’m sure 8 would be better and give you bigger gains but only if you can do it for longer periods of time. 8 rather than 12 for the same 20 minutes, probably doesn’t get you anything more. It probably gets you less.

That´s very interesting.

The problem is I think the tunica is made of a mesh of collagen fibers with some cells traveling on it, repairing here and there… it´s not like a mesh of cells, but more like a scaffold with workers “walking” on it. However extenders work. Maybe those cells interpret tension as a reason to restructure the fibers mesh in a new way, and they retrieve and reapply collagen here and there, producing some gains.
