How I attach the hanger!

I made this article on Bib`s forums a year ago or so. In case anyone finds it helpful, I thought I could post it here as well:

Hey guys,

Just wanted to share how I attach the hanger if it could be of help to any of you guys.

I recently started hanging straight out, and with my penis, the skin is not a limiting factor in this position so I have been forced to fine-tune my attachment technique with no room for error. In BTC there will always be skin stretch, even at higher weights, so BTC will let you get away with more error so to speak.

At least that`s my experience.

Anyway, what I found out is that I attached the hanger too far away from the head. Sounds counterintuitive right? I had the theory that if I attached it far from the head and tightened hard, it would not end up close to the head.

I struggled with this for some time and the result was pretty much the same every single time. No matter how hard I tightened, the hanger would slide forward and cause me tremendous pain on the path forward to the head. It did of course stop at the head, but the attachment was obviously poor.

When I told Bib about this he told me that I probably had a bad spot where the hanger would have problems grasping the structure and forming the shoulders.

What I learned then was to attach the hanger, tighten slightly(maybe 25%) so that the penis is properly located, and then pull the hanger away from my body so that I feel the hanger arriving at the sweet spot. This is pretty close to the head, but the fact is that for some reason the hanger is able to grip the inner structures a lot better closer to the head. In my experience that is. When you have arrived at the sweet spot, tighten as tight as possible.

I messed aroung with this for a while and did not quite get it because I was still attaching the hanger far away from the head before tugging it forward. I learned that for me, I can`t attach the hanger any more than an inch from the head.

When you attach the weights you will experience that the hanger does not slide any further towards the head at all if you have done things correctly.

Another detail he learned me when hanging straight out is what I take the liberty to call the “rope theory”. When you hold a tight rope with your hands, you always angle your hands to get a better grip.

It seems like Bib thought of this when he designed the hanger, so that in a straight down or BTC position, the hanger will tilt forward a tiny bit.

Applying this knowledge to the SO position, you could attach the hanger at an angle and you can also lower the straps on the hanger a tiny bit to emulate the “rope effect”.

In terms of wrap and bottom gap, be scientific. If you happen to come across the perfect hanging set, take a measure of how long your wrap was and approximately where you started it. Measure the bottom gap and write it down.

If you`re not hanging comfortably, you are either a) not grasping the correct structures, b) using too much or too little wrap, c) too wide/narrow bottom gap, d) a good combination.

The hangers teeth should be nearly meshed before attaching the weights, but there should be room for tightening more, especially with the first two sets.

If you have problem getting the teeth nearly meshed, you either have to open the bottom gap or use less wrap.

Personally, I use less wrap now than when I first started and I don`t wrap supertight. Less is more in my experience, but you need enough to create a good bundle for the hanger to grasp. I also do not use a cloth beneath the Theraband.

Anyway, be scientific about it. Measure length of wrap, bottom gap and write it down on your daily journal. That way you have a reference point towards perfection.

If you somehow mess up things and can`t remember how you did it, you have it written down for future reference.

I stumbled across that perfect set yesterday and I documented everything as good as possible. The hanger could have been just slightly tighter, so I closed the bottom gap slightly. I wrote this down in my journal. Measuring and recording my settings leaves out the guesswork.

Happy hanging!

Renholder

Thanks for this helpful post Renholder!

<If you do not change direction, you may end up where you are headed>

This almost made me grasp what I feel I’m missing. I Still need more practice.

I have obviously been doing something wrong, have lots of bruising around the head as the skin bunches up there as I hang.

Well, I`m glad if anyone got anything from it.

Seems like I need to re-read it myself. Had huge difficulties hanging today.

Renholder, I really feel the stretch as you discribed, but this really hurt my penis. Is it wrong to attach the hanger at the base of shaft? I have some bruising, but am worried I’m not doing this correctly.Bib, where are you?

Dang yeah mine always slides a little more towards the head also.Looks like I need to tighten more.

I`m not sure if anything is “wrong”, but the Bib was designed to be attached close to the head.

If you want to talk to Bib he got his own forums. He`s not here anymore.

Oh I talk to him often, I love his forum. I also feel mine much more effectively when I hang a little closer than he recommends, but not much closer.

Since my last post in here I have been practicing what you were talking about. It has suddenly clicked for me I think. I think I have just been tugging on skin. I finally got it set and it felt like it was tugging on a rubber band it had some tug back to it.

Sounds great TuggerJoe.

Due to the skin stretch in BTC I think many guys are attaching the hanger a lot poorer than they may believe themselves. Hanging SO leaves no room for error.

I`m doing better today, slowly changing the settings from set to set.

What is Bibs forum? If I hang close to the head, it really hurt me. I have to set the hanger close to the base for comfort, although it really bunches the skin as it slides toward the head once I attach the weights. My skin that bunches really bruises. I must be doing something wrong and need more coaching. One more thing, I’ve been hanging a little over four months. I measured at three months and have gained a half inch. I will measure again at six months. I do feel I have too much of a skin pull and I could put more pressure on the tendon.

Bibhanger dot com. There you`ll find the forum.

See, even though you attach closer to the base, the hanger slides forward and when it stops it is probably much due to the skin taking up the stretch. You are not gripping the internals.

You want the hanger to grip the internals and that is actually best done like I wrote in the thread. The hanger should be really tight and while tightening you should pulse push the hanger forward to make sure that you are gripping the correct structures.

Renholder, where do you first attach the hanger? Mid shaft, or right at the head?

Just for everyone’s peace of mind, for a while I was not attaching tight enough and my hanger would slide a bit towards the head (BIB even says a little slide is okay, it’s called forming the shoulders) my penis was very tight and I felt my limiting structure (steel cord on top of my penis) very tight and being pulled on, therefor my structures were taking the beating not my skin. But attaching it the 100% right way just allows me to feel it with less weight.
