Muzzle Hanger

Since I got so many questions asked about the muzzle hanger I’m going to shun my laziness and post a thread on a cheap home-made hanger that has been reported to handle 65 lbs and more.

So the materials you need:
1 nylon dog muzzle Size 1. (For muzzle sizes refer to Chart in attached files)
2 (Cable) Clamps. I know for people in the UK it is hard to acquire these. Any hose clamp or bolt clamp will suffice in place of a cable clamp
1 Either S-hook or shoe lace to secure the weights
Good underwrap

There is little assembly to the muzzle hanger, if you’re going to do the modification (it can be done to make the process of taking it on and off a lot easier) I’ll get into that later.

Assembly:
Attach S-hook or shoe lace to the part of the muzzle where it would clip around the dogs head. Select your weight and attach it to the hook/lace

Putting on the muzzle hanger:
1) Wrap like you would any other hanger
2) Slide the muzzle onto your tool to the end of your shaft
3) Use a cable clamp to secure it in place
4) Place another clamp right after the first one
5) Hang your heart out!

The modification that can be made to the muzzle hanger is suggested to make putting on and taking off the hanger easier. It also will help allow you keep pressure off of the dorsal nerve.
Materials Needed:
Sewing Thread
Velcro Straps
Sewing needle
Box cutter

Essentially you want to cut the seam of the muzzle where it makes the “O”, and then cut it open to make it accessible to you. After that (I had to sew part of the muzzle back together!) you basically just sew the velcro straps into place (I had self-adhesive straps, but sewing them secure is much better). Take a look at pics below. Sorry about the pictures, I had already cut a strap and sewn it back into place before I thought about taking pictures so I skipped a step of pictures.

Steps:
1) Find a seam where the muzzle attaches to itself around the “O” part and use the box cutters to GENTLY cut the threads securing it in place. (Pic #1)
2) For my muzzle the under strap that lead to the buckle was loose after this, so I had sewn it back into place already when the picture was taken (Pic #2)
3) Attach the first velcro strap to the part of the “O” and sew it into place (Pic #3,4)
4) This is where you got to use your judgment to sew on the second velcro strap [b](Pic #5, #1 of next post)
5) Viola! You have done the modification!

Here is a picture of the last velcro strap sewn into place, as well as the end result!

Also, this hanger is not of my own personal ingenuity or design. The only design of it that is mine is using a shoelace to secure the weights. I am merely posting this for other members and do not claim to have come up with any aspect of this device.

Oh yes I had forgotten to add this in before but the overall cost/time that goes into the muzzle hanger:
My own costs:
$10.98 from E-bay for the dog muzzle, shipping was free
>$3.00 for 2 cable clamps from Home Depot
$8 for a chamois leather towel (underwrap)
$3 for What A Grip (underwrap and GOOD traction wrap material for a days worth of traction wrapping)
$0 for the shoe lace
$0 for sewing supplies

Total: ~>$24.98 USD

Time
Muzzle hanger without modification:
>3 minutes to secure a good knot with weight attached
And about 5 minutes to wrap and get fitted into the hanger. Below is a picture of what my hanger looks like while not in use, so it is very stealth and easy to disassemble and hide when not in use.

To do the modification:
~40 minutes because I am no seamstress and I have big bumbling fingers, also years of playing the offensive line in high school and defensive line in semi-pro has left me with some unsteady hands from all the jammed fingers and the like. So it took some extra time.

@ThunderSS, I’ll just wait until that request filters down from someone and put it up. Even though I have a Progress log that I proliferate with pictures of my hanging every now and then I’ve been thinking of keeping another one on here, if I do start one here then I’ll put the pictures there and link them back to here.

Thanks for the guide. Very interesting… by the way, 65lbs is pure insanity. If you do that, you’re on you’re way to being like one of those crazy asian guys that lift 400lbs with their dick for a few seconds.

I’ve never done it truth be told, I’m still working my way on up to 20 lbs. The person who reported it was a member of another forum that goes by Dustpan. He reported doing 65 lbs for a few seconds (I think once you get that high in weight you can’t do long durations???) and a couple reps of it. Someone posed him a question of him doing 100 lbs as if he had done it before but never saw any confirmation. But if there is a day that comes where I need to be doing that much, I will do it. It’s a personal goal to one day get to that amount of weight, just cuz.

I guess nobody has any questions about the muzzle hanger? I must’ve posted some damn clear instructions then :P

Hm, I would like to see a in use picture.

Yeah, I saw Dustpan is up to 75lbs now (just for 30 seconds). He could be doing a lot more now; that was an old post I stumbled on elsewhere.

Actually, Dustpan used to post here on Thunders. I’m pretty sure its the same guy (based on measurements etc). I haven’t seen him here since I joined though (I think the posts were old maybe).

Yea he’s been inactive on the other forum too, he is older and a war vet so he might not have the time for message boards anymore.

Maybe the in use picture could be around something that’s only phallic like so it could be posted in this thread. I do love what you have going on here though.
