I’m putting together an improved design of it using 1” PVC pipes for the pillars instead of highlighters for added surface area for gripping, not that there was any problem with the original design, but a larger surface area for gripping can’t hurt. I’m going to include photos this time. Give me a few weeks until I get my first digital camera.

Yes, it is small enough to put in your pocket. If your S-hook is made out of plastic, you can walk right through airport security. :)

Hell Chicken, I am neither about work or money - I’m a boat bum, Maynard G. Krebs my hero and idol. Just making this was more work than I am accustomed to. I put two lines of aquarium silicone on the insides of both markers last night, and it hangs quite well without a wrap like this. Boy howdy, I learned the hard way not to touch the thing once hanging. I was at 15 pounds this am, and was admiring how the device squeezes, and of course just had to see how much pressure was on the shoelaces up top, and the whole thing let loose like a cannon.

I have been struggling with my BIB for a month now. The whole wrap thing is getting me down. I am not giving up mind you, but it has been a journey. This thing, with the silicone beads, just goes right on and hangs. Not sure about upper weight limits though. Seems to be getting dicey at 15 pounds. Will try 20 tomorrow.

You know, I built mine using markers (as you suggested), round shoelaces instead of cord, and the hook taken off a suction-cup picture hanger. I only need to slip the shoelace off the markers, and true stealth is obtained. I was thinking that it would be interesting to make it out of a 1x2 board - more surface area, and to play around with the location of the holes. Instead, sounds like you are way ahead of me - as it should be. I look forward to the improved version, though I bet it won’t be as small…

The heavier weights can be handled by the PVC pipes. I’m sure highlighter marker plastic wasn’t made to carry heavy stuff.

I think this is a good description, but since I am a visually-oriented person, I can’t really envision how this thing works. How about a few pictures of it in action? That would better help me decide if I want to try it. Thanks

I built the original CC and have already gained an inch solid. I have tried other hangers, and this one, by far, is the easiest to attach and to take off. It is also comfortable at 12 lbs for over 30 min.
