"New" wrapping materials

"New" wrapping materials

Living in the UK, all I’ve ever wanted is this Ace bandage that seems so popular. I haven’t found it, on or offline and can’t order from the US until I get a credit card. So I went shopping today and stopped off at Boots, probably the biggest chemist chain in the UK.

I bought:

One pack Tubigrip Support bandage - Size B (small wrist :D ).
One pack “Stretch bandage”.
One pack Cohesive Support Bandage.

I’m hanging right now with the cohesive support bandage topped off with Thera and my god it is the most comfortable hanging I have ever done. I bought some cohesive bandage off the internet a while back but just ended up giving it away to my injury-prone housemates as it was far too stiff. This stuff is softer, more pliable, and I love it.

I’ll update if and when I try the other materials.

If you’re in the UK and struggling to find a good underwrap for your Theraband, give it a go. It’s named exactly as above, and easily found in the first aid section of any big Boots store.

Hi ICM,

I actually also noticed when going shopping last Saturday, but didn’t know which to choose because there were too many different types of bandages in Boots. Thanks mate for sharing this information!

I also have problem to find Theraband. Apart from ordering online from US, anywhere in UK could I get it? Or any alternatives?

Cheers,
Rainsea

ICM - The “Cohesive Support Bandage” is what I used with the wench while I was hanging. It’s the self fastening one, right.
I actually used this as my only wrapping with the wench. Since the grippers I used were hard felt, the adhesive coating on the bandage gave a secure fit. I found it comfortable and never had any problems hanging this way.

This company distributes Thera-Band in the UK:

http://www.physio-med.com/

They sell Thera-Band in all strengths (thickness) on their web site:

http://www.phys io-med.com/con_ … rcise&offset=12

I believe Bib suggests the heavier ones: black, silver or gold.

Since they are a distributor, they probably sell it to local chemists or physiotherapy companies. You could give them a call (01457 860 444) or send a message for more information.

Great news ICM, but one question. Does the Cohesive bandage leave your penis sticky? I might go and bike into town tomorrow and get one. I also have been searching for the “perfect bandage” you may have found it for me.

Melvin,

The cohesive bandage magically leaves no stickiness or any residue. I’m liking it so far, although I’ll still be looking for something new.

Note: I have tried one other brand of cohesive bandage (can’t remember what brand, perhaps it didn’t have one) and I couldn’t really use it. Make sure you check out what you’re buying and give it a squeeze. It should be quite soft and should give when you squeeze it.

Cool, I will give it a whirl. I assume its boots own brand?

:chicken:

Yes Melvin - It’s Boot’s own brand. The adhesive is such that the bandage only sticks to itself. It doesn’t even stick to hairs.

Bad News: Just biked into my local Boots. They don’t have the small or medium size only the large one for ankles and knees. Looks like I am gonna have to get the train into the City Center.

Good News: They are buy two get third free!

Melvin, it’s a roll of tape. I haven’t tried the “small wrist” support.

You’re looking for cohesive support bandage, a small box with a roll of it inside.

There is only one size afaik.

I checked the website and it seems there are three sizes, I would have just got the large but last time I cut a bandage it curled at the sides and made wrapping even harder. Also seeing as it was large I thought it might be more tougher and more abrasive than the smaller sizes. I’ll get into town sometime :)

I see. I understand you now.

Westla90069, thanks a lot for the useful information!

That’s strange! I tried searching UK theraband dealer in Google many times, but this website never came out. Anyway, I’m going to order it now :) ! Cheers mate!

Thera-band is made by a company based in Akron, Ohio, USA. I called their toll-free number and asked if they had a distributor in the UK. Just doing my duty to the members here. Good luck.

Westla, I don’t know which word could describe my grateful feeling to you, but I am sure you could feel it! Thank you so much for doing that, mate!
