Questions to Heavy-Weight-Hangers

Hi guys,

the following lines should give you a short survey of my last 4 weeks hanging experiences.

Now, I am able to hang around 20 lbs for 2 h (20 min sets) BTC, Straight down and straight out without getting any problems. The mains reason (for the weight intensification) was, I think, that I’ve overcome the skin irritation. Before, I could not hang more than 14-15 lbs.

And: Now, I feel a really sore feeling. If that what I feel can be called ”sore”.
I give you a brief description of my feelings ”down there” around the penis (abdomen):
- when I do a sit-up in bed (no weight attached) it almost feels like a charlie-horse ”down there”
- when I cough (no weight attached) I also do have this feeling
- when I press my fingers against the penis (ligaments) near the pubic bone, I can feel a soreness
- and, when I’ve hung for 1 hour (20lbs) and want to go on hanging for the next 20 mins after a short break, I am not able to pull out my dick as far as I did at the beginning (of my session) ‘cause my ligs had become too tough.
—-> So does this all indicate that I am doing it right now?
I did not have these feelings with 14-15 lbs. But now I have it. Normally these sore feelings disappear after a 24 h rest period.

Are 2 h hanging per day enough?

I hope to see some improvements soon.
It took me months to get used to the hanger attachement and to improve my hanging routine. Means, to go up to 20 lbs. Before, I always had problems and difficulties even with 14 lbs.

To me it sounds like you are overtraining, you’re not giving your body a chance to heal. Just my opnion, I’ll let the vets give you advice.

That is exactly what i felt a few weeks ago and what i feel now, execpt for the cough part. but when i flex my abs, man do i feel it in my ligs also right behind my balls.

I too, am now experiencing these sensation’s. I’ve stepped up my weight to 18 from 12 over the last week. I don’t hang the whole 18 for the whole session. I’m using a sort of “shock therapy”. I start out with 12 until I feel I’m stretched and loose, then I hang another 6 onto the hanger for say 3-4 min. during the session. Maybe I can make it clearer: I start out with 12lb.-after a few minutes I hang the 6lb. onto the hanger and leave it on until I really feel the burn. Then I remove the 6lb. for a bit and then when the dude feel’s up to it , I hang the 6lb. back on., I always end my 20 min. sets with the 12 for at least 3 min. I really feel it after an hr. of this routine. Oh yeah I give him 25 PJ strokes in between sets to promote circulation.

So you are hanging unwrapped or unwrapping between sets?

I used to unwrap and re-wrap between sets until I saw Bib ask someone why he was doing it. Now I stay wrapped through all my sets.

I unwrap, since I’m a fan of the babysock. It only takes a second. I know some hang with no wrap, but-christ that sounds pretty painful to me.

but, the only thing I wanted to know is if I am doing it right.
Maybe there are some guys who are already a long time in this buisness and can tell me if these soreness feelings are the first step to success.

And: I don’t think that I am overdoing it ‘cause when I take a break of one day than these soreness feelings have almost disappeared.

And: Wíth 14 lbs I didn’t have these soreness feelings. Probably all the months that I hung with this amount of weight was a waste of time.

I do get sore in the penis and the ligs, and i don’t get the charlie horse/cough symptoms you desribe so I know I’m getting a good workout. I’m just concerned if you push it too far you’ll end up with an injury. Like you I was hoping we’d get more input from the vets.

I have never heard the term charlie horse being used- a charlie horse is when the muscles contract and stay contracted. The term most of us use for good lig fatigue is a tooth ache type of a feel. If this is what you feel you are doing it right- but I hope you didn’t jump from 14 lbs. all the way to 20 lbs. without taking a few weeks to do that, as it is quite a large jump :)

yes, maybe the term charlie-horse is wrong. It’s this fucking dictionary. Sometimes I wonder why they demand money for this rubbish. (By the way: I am not English/American.)

With charlie-horse I mean “to be stiff” or “aching muscles”. Here, it’s the ligaments or the tunica of the dick.
And I especially feel the aching of the “muscles” around my dick when I am coughing, doing sit-ups or pressing my fingers against the penis near the pubic bone.

Man, 4-5 months until I found out to hang (for me) properly and to increase the amount of weight up to 20 lbs.
Before: Almost no sore feelings and therefore wasted time.

No, I did not jump up from 14 to 20. There was a short “intermezzo” of about 17 lbs. So I got used to it.

And: I am still thinking that I am not overdoing it since I do not feel much more soreness after taking one day off.

Sounds to me like what you are doing is what you are supposed to be doing. As long as you keep an eye on the soreness and take a day off when you cannot hang over 50% of your maximum, you should continue to see gains. It is easy to look at the past as wasted time, but you may want to look at it as preperation to be able to hang heavier weights :)

Tryn4more, i agree with you that unwrapping between sets is desireable. i am a 6 week newbie who has gone rapidly to 6 days/wk 4 consecutive sets at 17.5# down, left, right and OTS without any bruising, red spots or trauma of any kind. i attribute it to unwrapping with minor jelquing between sets to restore circulation (however i also ice down for several minutes prior to unwrapping). Will join you at 20# before i complete 8 weeks of hanging. Bib said most of his gains were in the 17.5 to 20# range.

Itching vs. Soreness

Occassionally instead of soreness, I get a sort of tingling/itching sensation that feels like it is under the skin. Has anyone ever had this or know what it means, if anything? I am currently at 15 lbs and am not ready to increase. Maybe it is just another form of irritation?
