Veg,
>what kinda worries me(maybe it should not) is that the extreme soreness that i had the first month or so of doing it no longer happens. Is it a similar occurence to lifting in that your body adapts so that even though you make strength gains, the crippling soreness is maybe masked by more pain chemicals or something?<
This is normal as your body adapts to the stresses.
>I mean, don’t get me wrong, i still have soreness but it’s not like that “oh my god my unit is trashed” soreness I used to get. Your input? I just don’t want to think that i’m not working them enough!<
Well, a couple things: First, you will continue to adapt and the soreness will continue to decrease in a non-linear fashion. There will be times where you will put forth more effort or time and the great soreness will return. But you will become stronger.
Second, you will probably find, that with some rest time, the soreness will be greater after resuming the work. I think that after a good stretch of dedicated work, with a diminishing amount of fatigue, a rest period of a week or two could be really valuable.
During my gaining period, I had a couple of periods where I had to stop the work. One of nine days resulted in a period of really good fatigue for me after resuming.
Also, as you change the type of work, angles etc. , you will find the soreness returns.
