US/IR heat while hanging?

Hey guys..

Did PE many years ago and have recently decided to get back into it. Sadly, it appears I’m a newbie with all the new info.. And to be honest.. I got a little lost in all the posts.

Question: When using heat, seemingly one can only use US prior to hanging weight, I mean it’s all wrapped up.. Right? For IR, is the suggestion to hang and have the light focused on the shaft to keep the temp up?

This may have been addressed somewhere but I haven’t found it. Thanks for your patience and any replies I get.

Thanks

I appreciate the links..

Helpful.. One thing I’m still trying to locate is a FAR IR heating pad. Can’t seem to find one that isn’t huge. Has anyone found one recently or can anyone post a pic of how they make it work?

Thanks.

I saw on another post that the smaller size Thermedics are out lf stock. Totalman has theirs in stock. Mine just shipped.

Initial: 7” BPEL; 6” NBPEL; 5.25” - 5.5” MEG

Current: 7.75” BPEL; 7.25” NBPEL; 8.5” BPFSL; 6.5” MEG; 6”x5” Flaccid.

Goal: Improved/consistent EQ while managing ED. Secondary: maintain current stats.

I just got the one from totalman as my other one was not effective. The size is good and it really heats me up well.

IMO any form of heat helps PE so it’s a must. That said, I just got a small offbrand FIR on ebay for $26 shipped. It’s made for wrists and has a velcro wrap. Only had it for like a week and still getting used to it but like it so far. I am hanging DIY noose style. Not sure if I am up to therapeutic temps but I feel it really focuses the heat where it needs to be. Definitely giving me some PI so there’s that at least.

Thanks

That eye mask isn’t IR but it’s pretty cool that you can set the temp and time. Thanks.

After doing more reading, I find the one question I don’t see an answer to is how long to hang for and how many sets are recommended. Many years ago I hung weight, and I can’t find the book I wrote it all down in but I used a gallon jug mostly full of water if I recall so while I’m not new to this, I’m starting over with a slightly newer technique after a long hiatus. So I’m newbie adjacent.

I read one thread that said don’t hang longer than 20 mins but I’ve read regimens that have 5 mins warm up, 15 mins with heat, 15 mins with head and added weight, 15 mins more with heat and increased weight, and then 10 mins cool down with no heat but weight the same. If I understood it correctly.

Can any of the more experienced hangers give me an idea of what kind of frequency worked best for them? I’ve seen 10 hours a week as a guide but what did they do? Thanks. Hope I posted this in the right place.

A gallon of water is 8.3 pounds; a respectable weight.

The 20-minute thing dates back to the “compression hanger” days. The most well-known of those would be the Bib hanger. You need to wrap your shaft to get a good grip, and you have to remove it for a few minutes every 20 minutes or so to restore circulation since it restricts blood flow when tightened.

Compression hangers began losing out to vacuum hangers about ten years ago. You’re limited in how much weight you can hang with vacuum, but you can just leave it on without circulation issues, and the shaft is available for infrared heat, ultrasound heat, or Red Light Therapy. Plus the same bell and sleeve can be used with different additional bits to make an ‘extender’ or ‘all-day stretcher’.

I’ve been hanging consistently, 5# with 1# and heat added at 15 and 30 min interval, for the final 15 minutes I add another pound but take of the heat. Hanging for a total of an hour, total weight 8#. Numbers I derived from the load calculator.

Question. How long before you see results? I see some people have gains of a few millimeters after stretching but more so I’m curious of larger gains and the length of time needed to see them.

Hoping to add a full inch, I realize it’s a marathon and not sprint but if I continue hanging for a total of 60 hours. There should be some fairly easily noticeable length. I don’t trust my measuring to that small of an increment. I don’t know what a 90 day stretch period before some deconditioning should yield. I realize everyone is different. Maybe a solid 1/4”? Currently at 23 hours hang time.

Just looking for a possible window. Any thoughts appreciated.

You tell us when you make gains. Everyone is different.

Gains

I will, I’m just early on and wondered what others had achieved since I’m early on in my hanging.
