Dr Kaplan vs Lapdist

Hey,
I feel like my gains have plateaued. I haven’t used any machinery, I’ve just used my hands and lube so far. I’ve been considering trying a stretcher, a pump, or a clamp (quite possibly a combination of them). I don’t think I’ll ever cut the jelqing from my routine, it seems to cement gains in my opinion. Anyway, so as far as pumps go I’ve been looking at the Dr Joel Kaplan which seems decent and I can find for around $50-60, or the Lapdist which is highly recommended but costs around $120-130. Since I’m new to this and have no idea of what kind of gains to expect, if any, I’m viewing it as an experiment. $120 seems like too much to pay for an experiment. Is there anything wrong with the Kaplan? Any advice? Feel free to turn this into a comparison thread.

Johnny: After man year (11) and tried almost everything, my experience is that a stretcher as Monkeybar’s Auto Extentor AND the LADist pump is without a doubt the best for making successful gains in both girth and length. PS—drop the centimeter stuff and go with the inches—No visual measurements in centimeters. Steve

Thanks.

That should read: After many years (11). Mind going faster than fingers—Steve

I figured it out.

Also, I like using cm because it just seems more accurate…although sometimes it’s too meticulous and hard to get a precise reading. I also like it because few people know what cm translate to in inches off the top of their head.

Any more input on pumping/stretching/clamping.

Kaplan cylinders are tapered while Lapdist cylinders are true straight wall cylinders. If you have a tapered cock, then the Kaplan should fit fine, but if you have constant girth or a head that is larger than the shaft, then Lapdist is the way to go.

Well, I knew the LApdist pumps were popular for a reason. Is it really worth th $130? I mean that’s a bit of a chunk to shell out. Is there a cheaper way? Or a place where I can get a good deal? I’m gonna think about it a little more, but I’ll probably end up ordering one.

Also, I’ve looked at the chart on the lapdist website, but I’m still a little confused. I think I’m going to order the 8”x2” cylinder, does that sound right? My measurements now are around 7.25 by 5.5-5.75. Thanks again for the help.

Hey, I just found the thread that talks about how the break bleader vacuum pump kit from Harbor Freight is the same pump the lapdist uses only cheaper:

Harbor Freight Tools – Quality Tools at Discount Prices Since 1977

That helps cut the cost down to about $90. That’s a little better.

Yes Johnny: That is the way to go. Get the Harbor Freight Brake Bleeder Kit, order the correct cylinder from LADist Plus a quick connector fitting (Male) for the Harbor Freight Pump tube. The cyliner comoes with the female quick connector Steve

Buy a 9” X 2” cylinder.

You cant go wrong with paying the extra money for a quality cylinder. I do live the cylinders at pumptoys as well. They have a nice cushion the the LAP cylinders don’t have. I imagine if you get the pump from Harbor and get the cylinder from pumptoys you’ll be all set. In my opinion, don’t waste your time with the Kaplan. Either the LAP or the cylinder from pumptoys will get you going.

Please, please, please use low pressure (no more than 4-5hg) when you begin. I tried higher when I started and ended up with a water blister after my first session. Gprent and Peforeal have numerous threads on how to pump correctly. If you follow these principles, you’ll keep a healthy and growing member.

gprent,

while clamping my glans is 2.2” wide, and my mid-shaft no more than 1.7”.

Which width do you advise me .

Thanks.

I have two Kaplan cylinders and two Lapdist cylinders. The Lapdist cylinders are definitely higher quality, although they were twice as expensive. I started with the Kaplan cylinders many years ago when my salary was much less than it is now. For a pump I am using one bought from an auto supply store. The pump that came with the Kaplan cylinders broke fairly quickly.

Thanks,
I’ve been doing a lot of research here on Thunders and there is a lot of good information. I’m a patient person by nature, and I’ll be sure to keep the hg’s low. You’ve been much help.

What is your normal shaft erect girth, not width? Without clamping, is your head girth larger than your shaft girth? If so, what is your head girth?
