So, I just got my tube...

Being the impatient person I am, I had to try it out before my Harbor Freight pump arrived.

I feel like I might have overdone it a bit. How much pressure can you create if you just use your lungs for the vacuum?

I didn’t do it to the point of hurting but out of curiousity I saw how much vacuum I could create with a tube connected to a vacuum guage and it was well over 20hg. Is this gauge off?

According to this gauge, I could get 5hg in one breath. Something just doesn’t seem right about that.

Don’t take too many breaths. :)

If you have a gauge and all the connections are right, it should be accurate. Stay at 5 - 6 HG and you should be fine in practice.

Just a follow-up. I pumped for with gauge in place for the first time yesterday and I was nowhere near 15HG like I thought I was. It was probably around 6.

I’m really enjoying pumping though, I can see how this can become addictive. Already did my second set today, following avocet8’s instructions. I don’t understand how some of you can pump at 10+, 5hg seems like enough.

You’re right. 5”hg is good enough. 10” hg or more for any longer length of time is just foolish. And the addictive part is true if my still pumping after six years is any indication.
