That makes sense. I never quite understood the “net carbs” thing anyway.

Put me in the last camp. I was wrong.

We’re all wrong at some point; there are hard limits to knowledge. Recognizing a problem and correcting it is a much bigger deal than being wrong in the first place.

I’m wrong quite often, but I get away with it because I babble about such esoteric shit nobody listens to me anyway.

It is sobering how much of “modern medicine” is simply guesswork, “sounds reasonable”, and “we’ve always done it this way.” And doubly sobering when you consider how much supposed research is biased or outright faked.

Anything to do with nutrition seems to go for extra helpings of both, with a big dash of hucksterism to confuse things even more.

Got another case of burnt balls last night. The shaft was painfully hot during its pumping session, but I had to turn the heater off shortly after moving the tube to my balls.

I checked the readout on the thermostatic controller and it said the thermocouple was reading 10.1C. I checked the tube - vacuum hose and power cord to the heater, no wire to the thermocouple, which turned out to be dangling by the bed. I had taped it in place halfway down the tube, but it had pulled out anyway.

Time for a wash anyway. I removed the pad and aluminum foil and carried the tube and hose into the bathroom to wash. I think I caught the missing thermocouple before I got to the point of skin peeling off my scrotum like last time.

I mentioned earlier in this thread that I moved into an unheated spare room for sleeping and PE. Last night the outside temperature was 3 degrees Fahrenheit. Even with the door left open, temperature dropped down close to freezing. The electric blanket and the heating pad wrapped around the pump tube kept things toasty warm - one reason I’m not consistent about using the heating pad in the summer - but both my blood pressure cuff and the pulse oximeter quit working.

They’re both battery-munching pigs, so I expect the (reasonably fresh) batteries are the root of that problem.

I’ve mentioned celery seed extract before. I had determined through experimentation that it made a noticeable difference in erectile quality and frequency. I stopped taking the supplement on the 7th since I was going in for a blood panel with the endocrinologist. (testosterone replacement follow-up lab)

With celery seed extract I had frequent night wood, almost always morning wood, and occasional chubbies during the day. Without celery seed extract there’s no night wood, only a slight morning chubby, and no day chubbies.

Note: I was also taking L-Arginine, but in a low dose - 500mg/day.

Since it was a long weekend I took one of the 10mg taladafil tablets Friday afternoon. It’s now early Sunday evening.

The simple “Erectile Hardness Scale” is:
0 Penis does not enlarge
1 Penis is larger, but not hard
2 Penis is hard, but not hard enough for penetration
3 Penis is hard enough for penetration, but not completely hard
4 Penis is completely hard and fully rigid

On celery seed extract and L-arginine, I would get night or morning wood more than half the time, and could almost always manipulate a 4 erection.

Being off the EQ supplements for three weeks, night and morning wood was almost nonexistent, and with manipulation, seldom more than 2.

With taladafil (Cialis) night and morning wood came back, but only to a 2 or 3. With manipulation I could easily get 3, and occasionally 4. However, flaccid hang was noticeable, more like a very soft erection than flaccid sometimes.

Overall, about the same as the supplements I normally take.

10mg is a middle-of-the-road starting dose. Next time I experiment I’ll either try 20mg or 10mg along withthe supplements.

I’ve lost enough of the fat pad I can press on my pubic bone now. I might lose a little more later, but for now I’m going to declare it close-enough to bone-pressed.

Today:
Bone-Pressed Flaccid Stretched Length: 7-7/8”
Bone-Pressed Erect Length: 6-1/2”

I got a measurement of 6-1/2” for girth, but I’ve been running a fairly heavy heated pumping schedule for the last week, and while there was no edema, I expect the measurement would be slightly under 6” under normal circumstances.

If my erect length follows my flaccid stretched length I will be a happy camper.

Measurements were taken with a ruler with an L-shaped metal foot that slides up and down with a binder clip. I slide the foot down until it touches my glans; no parallax errors.

Sounds like good progress with the girth. What was your starting girth before pumping?

Good stuff Brother! Keep up the good work in 2023!

I don’t have a good answer for that. I pumped for a few months in 1996-1997 using a 2” tube. I went from having room inside to having to lubricate the tube to get it on, even when flaccid. But that was a homemade tube, and “tube” sizing is by OD; the Plexiglas tube was 2” OD with 1/8” walls, which made it 1-3/4” ID.

Modern PE tubes are sized by *pipe* standards; pipe is sized by ID. When I restarted pumping in 2020, I tried my old homemade tube, and I couldn’t even get into it. So the girth gains were permanent. I bought a 2-1/4” tube, thinking it was 1/4” larger than the one I already had, which turned out to be far too large. I’m in the “reasonable fit in the tube” camp on tube sizing.

I did some measuring and found out the ID/OD thing; I could drop the old tube inside the new one and shake it like a rattle. I measured my girth and I was closer to a 2” tube than a 2-1/8”, but I ordered the 2-1/8” because I was still doing scar rehab work, and I wanted a little extra room to put tension on the scars.

Since then, I’ve grown until I fit the 2-1/8” pretty well. I pack most of it when using heat and a modest 3”Hg. A 2-1/8” tube is 6.67” in inside circumference. I lose a bit of size after coming out of the tube; I use that as the “true” girth measurement.

I resumed pumping a year and a half ago; I’ve pumped almost every day, and I probably averaged an hour and a half per day over most of that. I stop each session before obvious edema (donut) develops, and I pump at a lower pressure drop than most pumpers. It worked fine for the scar reduction thing, and once that was dealt with I simply maintained the same routine, as it was still showing measureable gains. “Don’t fix it if it isn’t broken!”

Sounds good and i definitely agree don’t change anything that is showing results. Great work.

Going to start clamping for the next 6 months or so but since it’s an active exercise I am not sure I will be able to fit it in everyday. Have never seriously thought about pumping yet, might read up in case I am disappointed with my next go at clamping.

Pumping is easy, feels good, and completely passive if you use an electric pump; you can lube up, slip the tube on, and read a book, surf the web, whatever. But the usual “10 minutes twice a week” is just a waste of time in my opinion. Pumping - at least below the donut point - is fairly low-intensity PE, and unless you put the time in, you’re not getting anywhere.

The “pumping isn’t permanent” thing seems to be from people who over-pump and don’t know the difference between edema and growth.

I’ve been doing some clamping lately, but it has been an adjunct to pumping. Pump first, then clamp. I’m still a bit leery of clamping after injuring myself last year, but that was just a case of being eaten up with the dumb-ass.

I had noted that my testicles had shrunk dramatically even before I went on TRT, particularly the right one, which was about the size of a grape. Both were soft. A year of TRT didn’t make them any worse, which was good.

I had started pumping my scrotum some time ago, but it was only intermittent. At the beginning of November 2022 I went to an aggressive pumping schedule, trying to stretch it back out to somewhere close to what it was when I was younger. I’m making good progress there.

An unexpected side effect was that both testicles started getting larger and firmer. After the first month, they were hard and 20 to 25ml on the orchidometer. They’d get a little smaller and softer by the end of the day, but not too much.

At the end of December they were running 25+ml and keeping their size and firmness all day. The standard Prader orchidometer’s largest bead is 25ml, which is the smallest “normal” adult male size. Apparently urologists are only interested in hypogonadism and not anything in normal range or larger. By guesswork, I’m running around 30ml now.

At the beginning of January, nine days ago, I started using shatavari, an herbal that’s supposed to cause enlargement of the testicles. I started with a minimal dose, one capsule per day. I doubled the dose at the fifth day. So far, I’ve seen no measurable effect; the orchidometer makes it easy to tell.

I have a month’s supply of shatavari, so I’ll use it up to complete the experiment.

After that, I’ll take a couple of weeks off, then try the next thing on the list. I might re-try Damiana since I still have some. In several previous tests it made my scrotum larger, like it was filled with something, but my testicles were still the same size. It’s worth a re-try now that they’re up into normal range.

I’m pumping two to four hours per day with an electric pump at 3” Hg and a thermostatically controlled heating pad at 114F. I’m using the same skin conditioning mixture I used for scar reduction as a base coating and then a layer of coconut oil as a lubricant.

I got a pack of insulin syringes and went to an every-other-day schedule for the testosterone. The little quarter-inch needles are tiny and I barely feel them. Sometimes it took some gumption to stick the 1-1/2” needle in for an intramuscular injection.

Hair loss is continuing. It started when I began TRT a year ago. I can’t be sure it’s from the TRT; I’m 64, and that’s well into the “male pattern baldness” demographic. The rain of hair on my pillow, desk, and keyboard is more annoying than the hair loss itself.

I’m sad to see it happen, but I made it more than 20 years past where all my meatspace friends were rocking the Bruce Willis or Telly Savalas look, so I can’t complain.

Still, if you’re going to lose your hair, it would actually be *useful* if ear and nose hair went first.
