Hello,

First, a little bit about me. I dabbled in PE around 2008 without much success. I tried manual exercise, and I bought a Bib Starter, which was too difficult to use between the settings and circulation issues.

Fast forward, I stumbled upon some article about extenders. I love anything that is backed by research because the experiment design is more rigorous than most anecdotes you’ll find on the forums. I know that research with extenders has flaws, including conflicts of interest, but the idea seemed plausible enough for me.

I made the decision to purchase an extender in October 2021. I started out slowly per the instructions. I went from 5.875" to 6.250" in one month-I was ecstatic; however, during months two and three, the results stalled, and I even felt "tight", like I was overdoing it. I think I overdid the tension and while I didn’t suffer any injury, it felt like I was "toughening" the tissue rather than stretching or expanding it.

I perused the forums and stumbled upon 5.5Squared’s post found here Hanging with FIRe. I really like the methodical approach and concepts behinds it, so I’ve decided this will be my approach going forward and wanted to document it to hold myself accountable.

I purchased a vac hanger and a heat pad to get started. I’ll be using micro plates for barbells for weight adjustments.

So I started a decon at the end of January and I’m restarting today, but this time with a vac hanger so I can measure load more precisely. I’d like to add that I did no exercise during the three week hiatus aside from edging and I didn’t experience any loss of size.

My routine going forward will be based on 5.5’s suggestion, with an aim to condition myself to vac hanging and increase weight in 1-2 weeks. My 0.1 mpa is ~2.3lbs and 0.17 mpa is ~3.7-4 pounds; if you don’t understand the terminology, please use the link I shared at the beginning. You’re supposed to warm up cold with a light weight to start, add heat and weight at 0.1 mpa and gradually increase the weight until 0.17 is achieved then remove heat and add more weight (25% usually) while your unit recovers in an extended state without the heat.

0-15 minutes: 18 ounces
15-45m: 36 ounces begin applying heat at minute 15
45-60m: 48 ounces remove heat at minute 45

The hanger was extremely simple to use and comfortable; way better than my experience with a Bib Hanger. There was a little swelling and blueish glans, but no biggie; I used some tape for prevention. The feeling was a bit different than the extender I used. The extender felt like it stretched my unit whereas the hanger felt like it was pulling from the abdomen. I also used a wire cutter to shape a wire hanger for dry cleaning into an S-hook to add weight to the vac hanger. I plan on targeting 5 days a week for a one hour workout each of those days; if I miss a day, I’m not going to stress over it; it’s a marathon not a race. I will not do anything else in addition to hanging (e.g., no ADS).

My first question is: I noticed that I had a 17 cm BPFSL post hang, but the reading only lasted immediately after (within two to three minutes of removing the hanger and tape). After that it reverted to 16.5 cm. Is that common?

Not sure what is common, don’t think I asked people before, I can say it is not the same for me. The stretch lasts for hours and gradually goes back to normal, never measured how long that takes though it would be measured in hours not minutes

Thanks for letting me know. It was most likely a misread or poor measurement then. I will add a little more weight next session to produce some deformation.

what pad are you using?

I’m using the Total Man. I also ordered the TherMedic far infared on Amazon, but I won’t get it until March 3.

I increased the weights slightly. The same post-BPFSL as yesterday, but the same thing happened again where the post-BPFSL reverts quickly, within ~3 min and I’m unable to repeat the measurement. Maybe I should try pulling less hard for a more consistent pull / consistent measurement? My PIs were all good yesterday post-hang.

I moved the weights back to day 1’s load since the strain was the same yesterday. I prefer less if it works just as well. This time I wanted a more gradual increase in weight and a shorter cooldown (based on what I’ve read this is OK). I also used a lower temperature setting on my pad (medium/blue instead of red). I ran into trouble around the 30th minute when I had to use the restroom. When I tried to set up again my head was too sensitive and I couldn’t get a proper seal probably due to heat/deformation. I was pleasantly surprised that I measured 17.0cm again.

I might try again later today. Cheers.

Its made in India.that’s why. The one I got from total man gets here on Tuesday. That one is made out of the US too but I forget where.

PIs are solid (e.g., great flaccid hang) and no “tight” feeling yet (not expected at this point anyway)

Post-BPFSL: 17.5 cm <- immediately post stretch was 17.7/17.8cm

The same thing happens where my unit quickly loses its stretch post workout, but whatever, things seem to be going well so far. I started with the red / hottest setting on the Total man to heat up more quickly (not sure if the pad warms up linearly or not) then I reduced to blue. Things got a little toasty at the end so I reduced further to green. Most of the pad sits over the silicone seal and vacuum cap, but the heat definitely deforms my unit even if the base is more ignored. I may add a rubber band or Velcro strap to get a better seal near the base.

I didn’t do another workout yesterday after ending my session early due to the emergency trip to the bathroom, but I edged a little in the afternoon. Things felt a little bigger so I took out my ruler (I’m against measuring too frequently because it sets unreal growth expectations), and voila I was 6 3/8” / 15.875 cm to 6 1/2” / 16.5 cm. Now it’s obviously either EQ improvement (it would be subtle improvement) or I’m just playing catch up in the gap between my BPFSL and BPEL from my last cycle with the extender. From what I’ve noticed, there’s generally a 0.5 cm gap for most people but for some reason my gap was larger at the end of my previous cycle.

Yesterday I mentioned I didn’t continue because my head was sensitive & deformed. I actually ran into this issue today when I was putting on more weight and lifted the silicone ring accidentally, losing the vacuum seal. I tried to reseal but it was painful, so I squeezed all the blood out of the glans and tried again and it worked perfectly. I mention it just in case anyone runs into this issue.

Feeling tight today and I have a little pain in my left testicle for whatever reason. Taking a break today and maybe tomorrow.

I had good PIs in the latter half of the day yesterday and the pain subsided, so I got a workout in today.

I had great PIs yesterday, so I had another session today. Post measurement was shorter by 0.1mm. Everything felt good, but I’ll probably take a break tomorrow and maybe Friday depending on my availability.

I have a little trick I’d like to share for taking off the tape. It can hurt when you remove the tape from your glans. Heat definitely helps ameliorate the discomfort, but another thing that helps a lot is this: As you’re peeling off the tape with one hand, apply pressure to the glans just behind the tape as it peels off with your other hand. I have no pain anymore when doing this. It can also help to squeeze the blood from the glans, too. Good luck.
