A $.02 Ball Zinger

A $.02 Ball Zinger

I haven’t tried a zinger and didn’t want to invest in the suggested materials, so I pondered some alternatives. What common, cheap things are sources of zinc and copper?

Eureka! U.S. pennies.

Pre-1982 they were 95% copper and 5% zinc (with some tin in the earlier years). There’s your copper.

Newer pennies are 97.5% zinc and 2.5% copper. Bingo, there’s your zinc.

File or sand the copper coating off the zinc penny and sand any oxidation off the copper one. You could use a new copper-coated penny in place of the old one if it is clean enough. The plating is enough to work. For long use, the old, 95% copper penny would be preferable because it can be sanded for cleaning.

Attach however you like. It could be to the underside of one of those wrist straps that are popular, a homemade thing, whatever. Use your imagination. You could even drill holes in the pennies and sew or tie them to your strap or ring.

Several could be used on each side for better contact. I haven’t gotten that far yet, having sanded the skin off the edge of my thumb doing the first one. Be careful.

I set the coins on my semi-sweaty leg about 2” apart and got a reading of .74v. The copper-coated penny produced the same voltage as the 95% copper.

As a test, I taped them to the sides of my even sweatier scrotum and got .51v. I’m not sure why this is lower. My balls are hanging loose and low, so maybe the contact wasn’t as good.

I know some are going to ask about the purity of the metals in pennies. Have you ever worn Levi’s without underwear? What about the purity of those copper rivets? Oh no. Do you wear a watch with a metal band? How about a necklace or an ear ring? What is in those? IMO, as long as there aren’t large amounts of nasty stuff in whatever sets against your skin, don’t worry about it.

Here’s how I made a simple band to hold the pennies. I’m getting .66v with it on. I just made this about half an hour ago and have no idea how comfortable it is for long periods.

I used the same velcro as for the Wench (2” wide). Cut a strip of the soft stuff long enough to fit around the package plus a couple inches for overlap. You can always trim it down, so use enough.

On one end cut a 1” x 1” square out of a corner.

Peel the backing off, fold the velcro in half lengthwise, sticking the two sticky sides together. Now cut a bit of rough velcro to fit in the 1” x 1” gap you created. Stick it in place. Done. You now have a velcro cock ring. You can trim it down from 1” to a comfortable width. Mine is about 3/4” for now.

Cut some little squares (or circles if you’re fancy) of the rough velcro and stick it on the pennies. Velcro the pennies inside the strap. Attach the strap around your package and you’re zinging.

Edit: I rechecked the voltage, and it’s now at .72. The coins must have settled in.

Hobby,
Ingenious. A new high in low cost PE!

If I recall correctly, soaking pennies/coins in a solution of white vinegar and baking soda removes oxidization. There might be another ingredient I am forgetting. I bet here are homebrew recipes all over the web for this purpose.

Truly ingenious.

Man, I’m full of ideas today. I wonder if the rough velcro would stick to a jock strap. It might. If not, you could sew female snaps in the appropriate positions and glue male snaps on the pennies. Snap ‘em in to zing, and out for washing.

No strap or ring would be needed at all, and you wouldn’t have to worry about the thing falling off.

Thanks, Cap. I doubt the zinger really does anything, but at least this is a low cost way to try it.

I don’t know much about home brewed oxidation removers. Brasso always worked well. I’ll stick with sandpaper.

I wondered what quality of zinc the U.S. Mint uses. This indicates it is "special high grade."

The United States Mint has a requirement for approximately 2,800,000 kilograms of Special High Grade (SHG) Zinc for delivery to U.S. Mint fabricators during the weeks of 7/3/95 through 7/14/95. It is anticipated that Solicitation Z-95-6 will be issued on/or about 5/22/95. All requests must be in writing. See Numbered Note(s): 12. (0124)

A Google search on "special high grade" zinc, and mint turns up more evidence.

This page has a chart showing the various grades of zinc used in the industry. Special High Grade is even better than the numbers Tom gives for the McMaster rod:

Special High Grade (SHG)
lead max .003
iron max .003
cadmium max .003
aluminum max .002
copper max .002
tin max .001
total non-zinc max .010
zinc min 99.99

Not bad for only a penny. :)

Great job,Hobby. This is going to ruin the peckerheads day that is selling the zinger for $65.00. I will try this out,it sounds very interesting.

Alice

You using one of each or two of each? More?

Noticed any effects yet? What are they?

I just love a cheap bastard. Makes me feel like I belong… :)

Hobby - this is genious.

Let us know how you get on. I might start looking into what our coins are made from over here and have a go myself.

He’s a really nice guy, not a peckerhead. Don’t judge before you know him.

But You don’t know where that coin has been. Yuck. I’ll take my “chances” with the $65 job. It was worth it. And it isn’t like he is saying that’s the only way to get it. He has posted instructions on how to make it yourself. He just offered to sell them if we would rather do it that way. I couldn’t order the zinc from McMaster because I didn’t want to have to explain to my parents why I was buying metal. I’m sure you could construct a Bib hanger for much less than what Bib sells it for, but you don’t complain about him or call him a peckerhead. And he wasn’t even planning on selling them until several people asked him to.

The reason purity is such an isuue is because there is electricity involved. There isn’t with jewelery or copper studs on your jeans or whatever. The electricity transfers the ions of whatever is against your skin into your body. Not so with jewelery, etc. So I wouldn’t want to take my chances with filthy coins from God knows where. I just don’t want all that nasty stuff in my system. But, if it’s worth saving the measly $15 or whatever it takes to build one yourself, that’s your deal. I’d rather not pump tin, other people’s grime, and who knows what else into my scrotum.

My signature is cooler than yours.

I know how to braze - I wonder - could I use brazing rod and manufacture a cockring out of pennies alternating zinc to copper, hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

I think the electic circuit is supposed to be completed by your skin, not through direct contact with the other metal.

Everyone wearing a cock ring for long periods should start out slowly and monitor for any trouble. Most guys don’t have any problems wearing something like the strap I made or the TheraP wrist strap around the dick and balls, but I do.

Over a year ago I got a thrombosed vein from accidentally wearing an elastic, but loose, cock ring overnight. I’ve also had problems from long pumping sessions. Anything that causes a mild constriction for long periods can wreak havoc on my veins.

Wearing this new penny holder loosely around cock and balls for about 4 hours thrombosed a vein I had never even seen before. I didn’t notice the big lump until I got erect. Luckily, I caught it quick enough that it has mostly cleared now less than 12 hours later. It should be fine in a day or two (knock on wood). So, I’m wearing the zinger around balls only.

As I said, this doesn’t seem to be a common problem, but be cautious when testing something new. I’d be in big trouble if I had slapped it on and gone to bed.
