Discussion About Nerve Damage

Hi,

I was reading a post on Reddit about a guy who had significant gains but also permanently lost 40% of his sensitivity.

“Nerves take a long time to heal but another thing to know is that nerves are POST-MITOTIC CELLS. This means these things have a LIMITED RESERVE to regenerate itself. If I’ve known this I would have stopped. If you look at my post history, I’ve gotten nerve damage 3 times and this third time it healed very little. I guess I used up all the reserve my body has to heal nerve cells.”

What are your thoughts on this? Have any of you, especially hangers (both vac and compression), experienced anything like this?

May the gains be with you!

If you get nerve damage you are doing something wrong.

So its not very common, right? I was worried that maybe there were some downsides to making such rapid gains as mine.

Doing things too fast often results in injury.

How does one know if he has nerve damage?

Nerves run like tributaries from rivers or like a tree branching out. So if you sever a nerve, you won’t have any feeling beyond the point of damage on that branch. In terms of the penis, that might mean that you lose feeling in a section of the shaft over some degrees of the circumference. Or put another way, you’d have feeling in certain places but no feeling in other close by places. It depends on whether you damage something major or minor. Nerves can regrow but it takes a very long time.

Talk to someone who’s had an operation if you want an idea of what actually severing nerves feels like. They will tell you that they have no feeling beyond the incision point in one direction or another for a while.

If everything is going fine why do you even think about it? It has been my experience the more a guy thinks about what could go wrong then it does. Do your work, go slow and know what you’re doing and you’ll never have to worry about stuff like that.

Thank you. This is very informative.

Nerves can regrow? Maybe but only upto a certain point I guess because this guy that I have quoted in the OP was told this by a doctor.

Nerves regrow at a very slow pace. Maybe this guy will get feeling back over the years or decades.

PE is controlled damage, don’t flip over into uncontrolled damage and you’ll be fine. Knowing the anatomy of the penis and not being an idiot helps.

There were lots of PE injuries like this reported prior to the existence of this forum. At that time people were often hanging with a noose around the end of their dick. That was the main spur for the compression hangers that were developed later.

The way you describe nerve damage, I’ve never had those symptoms. I do manual hanging at 10 kg and sometimes its painful but never to the point of completely losing sensation in a certain part of my dick.

I’m a vac hanging believer because I think compression hanging is risky even though its an improvement over noose types.

Don’t ignore pain. Your body is telling you something. You wouldn’t notice nerve damage until after you’ve done it (maybe some time after).

Believe what you like, compression hangers have been used safely for over 20 years, vac hangers have been around something like 8 years. Vac hangers can’t do high weights safely, compression hangers can.

I had surgery on a broken knee and it took me 10 years to recover sensibility in a certain area around my knee.

Healing time is when you grow.

Good luck guys.

Decreased blood flow deprives the nerve cells of oxygen, causing nerve damage or nerve cell death.

Tendons generally have a more limited blood supply than muscles.

Nerves do regrow, but it takes long. Got nerve damage following a chin injury, took more than a year before I could fully feel my chin again.

Don’t restrict blood flow and you shouldn’t experience any nerve damage.

The main reason I’ve never experimented with hanging and why I only do hand squeezes rather than using an actual clamp for clamping.
