Something happened that deserves to be posted about, but I don’t want this post to come off as an attack, or as containing any kind of drama or negativity. I’m just going to document about something that took place, which I think people need to be aware of.
On a profit orientated forum (which again isn’t attack, it’s just a statement of fact) they, for a time, implemented a strategic, focused effort to try to coerce and intimidate people with injuries out of posting, or out of being taken seriously (again just a simple fact). And I should also add that recent evidence suggests that maybe they are going to stop doing this kind of thing, and if they do, I’ll give them credit publicly.
The specific event which people should know about, is centered around a poster for whom English clearly is not his native language. He used what he described as a homemade penis pump quite some years ago, and ever since, had host of penile issues suggesting an injury.
He went to the doctor, but they couldn’t find anything wrong with his penis with the tests that they performed (he mentioned a doppler ultrasound).
He clearly did some reading on the injury forum on a profit based forum, and apparently somehow was weak minded enough to buy into the propaganda that, because the doctor didn’t find anything wrong with the test that they did, that he didn’t actually injure his penis after using the homemade pump, and instead had what he called a ‘mental problem.’ And he really wasn’t joking.
So he actually began posting asking people for help on fixing the mental problem that had starting effecting his penis after using the homemade pump. And again I have say that he really was actually serious. Sometimes its the non native English speakers where you can really hear the sincerity of their posts, as they try to explain themselves as best as they can- and you could hear the desperation, and sincerity, as he confusedly begged for answers on how to treat the mental problem that had started after using the homemade penis pump.
He finally made a thread that was intended to be a poll, asking for people’s opinions about whether his problem was a brain injury or a penis injury. And again, he was SERIOUS.
So what did the profit orientated forum do? Here was a guy who, in his broken, second handed English, was actually listening to them. But, for them, it backfired. Because in a debate with injured people, who can’t prove that they are injured, these vague, almost impossible to disprove arguments about deep mental problems can help cover things up, but when someone actually starts taking it seriously, it suddenly looks truly ridiculous. It shows itself for what it is. By taking them at face value, he was actually unknowingly exposing them.
So what did they? You guessed it- they banned him. They spent so much effort with what seemed like a foolproof way to distract from injuries, that someone who was weak willed and confused enough actually ended up taking it seriously. And in doing so, made it look like the joke that it was. The ultimate irony then occurred, they needed to ban one of the rare people foolish enough to take them seriously.
I thought this was just an incredibly eye open and ironic turn of events, and was something that people looking through the injury forums should think about.
