So if you eat much of fishoil your sperm would taste like fish, am I right? Any opinions concerning that?

Fish oils (EPA) speed up healing of ligament injuries
WEST LAFAYETTE, INDIANA. Ligaments are tough bands of fibrous connective tissue (mainly collagen) that link two bones together at a joint. Injuries to ligaments are notoriously slow to heal. Researchers at Purdue University now report the results of an intriguing experiment which shows that eicosapentaenoic acid (the main component of fish tissue oils) materially speeds up the healing of “wounded” ligament cells in vitro. The experiment was carried out on three cultures of animal medial collateral ligament cells. The first culture was treated with arachidonic acid (an n-6 polyunsaturated fatty acid), the second with eicosapentaenoic acid (an n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid), and the third served as a control.

After four days the cells were analyzed to determine their fatty acid profile. The AA (arachidonic acid) treated cells were found to have an n-6 to n-3 ratio of 24.3 while the EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) treated cells had a ratio of 1.1. This indicates that the two fatty acids were well-absorbed and incorporated into the cells. Next a “wound” was introduced into the surface layers of the cell cultures by streaking a sterile pipette across them. The rate at which ligament cells grew back into the “wound” was measured over a 72-hour period and taken as an indication of wound healing speed. Both the AA and EPA treated cultures showed a higher degree of regrowth in the wound area than did the control. However, while AA decreased the synthesis of collagen by the ligament cells, EPA markedly increased it.

The researchers conclude that dietary supplementation with fish oils (n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids) could be used to improve the healing of ligament injuries by enhancing the entry of new cells into the wound area and by speeding up collagen synthesis.

For roughly seven years, I’ve been taking 5-10 grams of fish oil a day. I wonder what impact this has had on my attempt to PE.

Any thoughts?

Go Purdue! Great school. My Alma Matter.

I’ve taken both the Sam’s Club brand (Members Mark) and VERY expensive Sears Labs (The Zone guy) brand fish oil capsules. The difference, if any, seems to be minimal.

A couple years ago, Consumer Reports did a review of fish oil. They recommended the cheaper Costco and Sam’s Club brands.

Lately, I’ve been taking:
MEMBER S MARK (Sam’s Club)
MM EX OMEGA3 ENTERIC FISH OIL 200 CT
Item: 188008
Price: $12.34

Each capsule contains 240 mg of EPA and 200 mg of DHA

Anyone ever get sick from taking this stuff? I’ve had a few weird episodes of stomach sickness and faintness after ingesting a few capsules.

Do you find it neaseating? If so, you might want to take them with a full stomach.

I can get the shits if I take to much, even when taking the regular amount I still need to be near the bathroom when I have to go. Every once in a while I need to stop for a few days. It’s possible that your blood pressure is low already and the fish oil is making it lower and that’s why you feel faint.

Cod Liver Oil used to be very popular for kids as a supplement for vitamins A and D…… I find it hard to understand why you will have such a bad reaction to it. Perhaps it is due to some additives in the oil?

Fish Oil isn’t cod liver oil - as far as I understand the term, fish oil is the oil you get from pressing the fatty meat.

Maybe something in the capsules themselves is bothering you guys.

I’ve taken several brands of fish oil, as much as 6g at a time, with no issues other than an occasional fishy tasting burp.

No problem with 6,000 mg of 1k tablets a day for almost 4 years.

Could somebody remind me the benefits of fish oil? Are they cholesterol-related?
