I also agree on the over hyping of salt is bad but the sad fact is, did you not say you can not find salt with added iodine in your area? If so, it makes no difference if you eat the salt on hand or not.

Yes if you have high blood pressure follow Doc’s advice about salt. But, if things are not working as he predicted and you have done what you are supposed to have done, know this. When your salt consumption goes down your renin levels rise. What happens when your renin levels rise?
High blood pressure!

Actually, cholesterol is not the evil that the medical proffession has been claiming. In fact, certain types of cholesterol are essential for health. Cholesterol is a healing agent in the body. It is actually infamation that causes problems in the body. But that is beside the point. You should do a little online reaserch about eggs and nutrition. They are not the cholesterol packed demons as had previously been claimed.

We can get iodized salt, here. The thing is, many ( in fact most ) people have cut back on dietary salt because we have been told it’s bad. I stopped adding salt to my food for this reason when I was in my teens. I, now, do not like salty food. If people aren’t eating the salt, they aren’t getting the iodine, either. That’s why I was inquiring about iodine suppliments.

The one that placed suit cases with syphillis in subways and bus stations in impoverished areas to see what would happen if it got loose in the population? The one that lets industrial fat cats put hormone mimicking chemicals in our food and beauty products? The one that just gave millions to Islamic countries that hate us and would love to destroy us and our way of life, while our own country is in economic crisis? The one that has our soldiers fighting, in Libya, in support of rebels that are the same Al Quaida that flew jets into the twin towers?

That goverment? I just want to be sure we are talking about the same government.

Seriously? Are you aware that there are watchgroups fighting to get hormone mimicking chemicals out of our products, and have been for some time? Hasn’t worked too well, has it?

That didn’t work out too well for motorcycle riders in this state. That’s for sure. We fought, protested, petitioned, wrote letters to our officials. We made it clear they needed to let those who ride decide. We have had a helmet law here,

Shoot! The last bit of this post got cut off! What I was saying was that we have had a helmet law here ever since they ignored what we very verbally let them know we wanted.

Do not make the mistake of trusting your government my friend. They are not well intentioned public care takers looking out for you. They are self serving, corrupt, dishonest, power hungry despots. Trust a rattlesnake not to bite you before you trust the government.

I see your point and understand the examples you list. It happens in every country. My point is stop electing the locals from your town officials up. Will it always change stuff? Probably not if there is billions to be made but you never know.

I personally am not worried about the hormone chemicals in my food but if you are, buy the grass feed organic stuff. I don’t mean that sarcastically. It may be the only option?

I am not sure if you mean a helmet law you fought for but believe that is your point. I agree with you but I also see the need for helmets as well. Perhaps most of the state is non riders and decided against you? Perhaps the state was threatened to lose federal funding if the law was not passed? I don’t know. I hated wearing seat belts when they passed the law. Hated it. 2 tickets later I feel naked without the seat belt, lol.

Sorry to be a part of a possible thread highjack as well, simply responding to what was posted.

In moderation I agree entirely (even two daily in a study I read). I often eat up to 6 eggs a day and both dietary contaminants and cholesterol and sodium are concentrated in the yolk, where as the white is mainly protein (all I care about) :)

Last reply to Gov topic in this thread. Yes, there are some.Again, with the Government you have to start by firing (don’t re-elect them) at the local level. Towns, city, county. These are the guys to work on. Generally nothing gets done starting high because there is not enough people to support you therefore no threat. It can happen but that many people only come out when the tipping point has been reached for their pocket books.

This is not a perfect country my friend but I’m staying in it long haul!

You guessed it. It was federal funding. Federal bribery at it’s finest. Right after they passed the law, such federal bribery was declaired unconstitutional, but we were still stuck with the law. Back to our regularly scheaduled program.

So, Sophomoric, you have dene the ketosis diet and had excellent results? I, sadly, haven’t had the chance. I am in a situation where it is hard for me to maintain a specialized diet. That type of diet is much like what I was eating when I was at my healthiest. I was running the crab room in a seafood house and, basically, all I ate was seafood. Tons of protein, almost no carbs. I was in excellent shape and had no weight concerns and I have always felt it was the high protein, low carb diet….even before they started recommending one.

I’ve had great results with a ketosis diet - I lost about 6lb in two weeks doing very little exercise or resistance training. It’s a difficult diet to abide by as a majority of our foods are packed with carbs. Now a days I generally eat a high-carb breakfast, then salad/meat for lunch and dinner; roughly 40g of carbs a day - not enough to induce ketosis but it still feels healthy and maintains my weight nicely.

Citizen dick look up the side affects on Yohimbe . I took it once and it gave me shortness of breath and I am in great shape.

Did anyone mention yohimbe is this thread?

You should read my posts on yohimbe in some of the other threads. Some guys should not take it period. You need to do you own research. Never just take something another recommends with out first researching it. Yohimbe is not vitamin c for Gods sake.

At least you understand now that you can’t handle it.

My mistake, yohimbe was mentioned.

As a side note you guys gotta be careful with going too low carb if you have any depression or bipolar disorders.

I find that I get way too apathetic and just about suicidal if I go low carb for more than a few days. Not to mention my Depakote doesn’t work properly as it should. I found that a small dose of caffeine and 50-100mg of 5-htp help a lot to keep serotonin levels normal enough for me to go throughout my day without feeling like shit. That usually only happens to me the day after my three very low carb rest days before the 300 gram carb backload.

Thanks for the info. I really have to do my best to try this.

Taken in great enough quantities, the pure stuff is slightly halucinagenic….just saying.

Interesting. I don’t have a problem skipping carbs, myself. In fact, eating too many carbs makes me feel lousy. There is a school of thought that everyone fits into certain dietary needs catagories. What works for one catagory won’t work for another. Prehaps that is closer to the truth than one diet for all. Maybe ethnic background has something to do with it. Perhaps if a person returns to the traditional diet of their ancestors that would be healthiest. I don’t guess you could be Italian? They eat tons of carbs. I am German. When the Romans met them, the Germans ate a predominately meat diet. Could be. It’s certain that Japanese who have abandoned their traditional diet in favor of an American diet suffer for it.
