Yes, there are reports that claim too much zinc can cause the loss, or reduction, of your sense of smell. The medical industry says to only take 50 mg with the onset of cold symptoms. They say that zinc binds with whatever is foreign to your body and will take it out when the zinc flushes out, avoiding a prolonged illness. I have even seen recommendations as high as 105 - 350mg. I have also seen studies using as low as 10mg daily, which is better than nothing. I have been taking 50mg (recommended) daily for a year now with no negative side effects. Further, I rarely get sick. My advice would be to take your bottle’s recommended dosage and see how it works for you. Not to mention the fact that you can simply eat foods high in zinc: oysters and other seafoods, liver, peas, and beans. Eat carbs too and leaner meats instead of fatty ones (This is actually more for better erections than anything else). A good suggestion here is pasta with chicken, or lean pork, and you certainly can’t go wrong with fish (The fish is for zinc). And don’t forget to drink 3 - 4 liters of fresh water daily, that will definitely help your volume.
