L-arginine, when??

L-arginine, when??

i’ve read all the posts about L-arginin, and understand i cannot take it before 3 hourds later than my protein.. well i eat protein all the time, so only time it could fit in would be at night when im sleeping and not eating.. so how about taking the pills every night when im sleeping and are getting up to pee??

ohh does the rule with protein also mean you cant eat meat with your l-arginin or should that be ok?

I take the L-a on waking, late in the afternoon, and before bed. I don’t eat all the time so there are periods when my stomach is pretty much empty.

You’re all the time eating protein? How do you manage that?

every 3. hour i eat protein… i do bodybuilding so its a must!

Nissen, in that case you’ll probably find L-arginine does nothing for you. Chances are you’ll always have a pool of protein sat in your system, especially if you drink protein shakes

jep, thats just to bad…

Ill still try to eat 7000mg right before bed, or maybe in the mittle of the night, when im up to pee!!!

lets see what happens… better try it out, rather than just througing them out!

Nissen: Don’t take all 7000 mg all at once. It will give you stomach upset or diarrhoea. Try to break it up and take it bit by bit throughout the day.

Taking large doses of Arginine at night while you sleep may give you leg cramps especially if you are working out and loosing electrolytes. Make sure you drink plenty of water with or it will be Charley-Horse city.

i dont get stomach upset..

shouldnt it help your body realease more GH? if you take it at night?

I take 7gram 3 hours after my last meal (including protein)

and why cramps?

I find that arginine must be taken with an empty stomach; otherwise there is no effect. It doesn’t matter if you don’t take it consistently: so long as it is taken with empty stomach, it will work, even on an ‘as needed’ basis.

It may cause stomach upset until you get used to it. And excessive farting is a very common complaint as your body adjusts to your intake of it. Fortunately that stops. (!)

Use in a well ventilated area, I guess.

Can someone explain the reasons why protein and l-arginine need to be taken so far apart from eachother? Does one cancel out the other? Everyone eats some form of portein throughout the day regardless whether they realise it or not, does this mean that l-arginine is useless for everyone?

L-arginine is an amino acid, so it’s a component of protein, along with 22 other amino acids. But various amino acids, like l-arginine and lysine, compete with one another for absorption into the bloodstream. Thus, if you want the benefits of any one amino acid, it’s best to take it alone, without protein, so there’s no chance of other amino acids impairing its absorption.
