L-Glutamine: a possible PE recovery/growth hormone enhancer?

L-Glutamine: a possible PE recovery/growth hormone enhancer?

Here’s a list of Glutamine Benefits:

* Glutamine has been linked to protein synthesis. It prevents your muscle from being catabolized (eaten up) in order to provide Glutamine for other cells in the body.
* Glutamine helps maintain cell volume and hydration, speeding up wound and burn healing and recovery.
* Glutamine benefits you by replenishing declining Glutamine levels during intense workouts.
* Research has shown Glutamine can help you produce growth hormone levels. A study have shown 2 grams of L-Glutamine increased growth hormones by over 400%.
* Glutamine may serve to boost your immune system. For bodybuilders, this is important since heavy workouts tend to greatly deplete Glutamine levels. (Glutamine is a primary energy source for your immune system.)
* Glutamine is one of the most important nutrients for your intestines. It has the ability to ‘repair a leaky gut’ by maintaining the structural integrity of the bowels.
* Bet you didn’t know this: It can even cure ulcers! Studies have found that 1.6 grams of Glutamine a day had a 92% cure rate in 4 weeks.

I’ve just started taking L-Glutamine for my bodybuilding workout, since alot of the guys at the gym use it with great success.
The two things that pop out are the facts that glutamine speeds up wound healing and recovery and that it increases the growth hormones levels. These two should also help for PE routines (I use a combination of hanging and ADS) and sometimes I feel that the healing should happen a little bit faster, in order to increase the weights a little bit and get rid of the glans soreness that accumulates over time (I actually have to take conditioning breaks that last for days).
The actual dose one has to take (at least in bodybuilding) is 0.25 grams per kg, so that would be 20 grams daily for my body. L-Glutamine has no side effects so 20 grams a day should be ok.
Anyway, I’m really curious about the overall effect L-Glutamine has on me and I’ll keep you guys updated.

I use a “California Fitness” pure glutamine powder supplement.

I started taking that about two weeks ago for my ulcerative colitis as capsules. Seemed to work, but I had to stop for a bit to address other issues with body temperature right now.

I know Lewd Ferrigno personally.

Do a search on bodybuilding.com for glutamine….they post a study or some such that pretty much debunks glutamine completely.

I’ve just restarted hanging after a week break and started taking l-glutamine a week ago. It does seem to prevent muscle catabolism, but regarding PE I can’t have an opinion yet.
