Omega-3

Heres the thing dopamine and serotonin no matter what bullshit they tell you are inversely related however it is important to maintain a healthy balance with the two. I have long suspected that since taking ssri’s forced on me by my parents that balance has tipped into the serotonin. I was severely depressed on the meds but my folks didnt care they needed to feel like they were helping me rather than actually helping me I felt like the world became grey and void of emotion funny thing is I was actually really happy before the meds it’s just my folks and I didnt see eye to eye on alot of things IE my current situation. I have since stopped but I still feel lethargic emotionless and it killed my libido drastically from masturbating 5 times a day before I was on drugs to once a week. MY question is does omega 3 increase dopamine and decrease serotonin or does it do the opposite. Also what role could caffeine play IE redbull in helpin with dopamine. And lastly I’m going to try to convince my doctor that I should take dopamine agonists what would anyone recommend there are alot of them.

And what was the mental illness you were accused of having? To give you the proper information about omega 3 fatty acids we need to know exactly what you was your diagnosis. And are you old enough at least 18 to take mental health matters into your own hands. I think you should do all the reading you can on fish oil and other omega three fatty acid supplements to see if they are right for you. Let me guess Ritalin or something like it right. This seems to be the drug of choice parents use instead of giving you a well deserved spanking. But now your to old for spankings.

Speak softly carry a big dick, I'm mean stick!

No they gave me lexapro I don’t think riddlin is an ssri. I first started taking ssris when I was 17, I am 20 now but my mother is italian and she will randomly scream in my face if I go against her will. But fuck, that no more. I had a little bit of OCD but a little bit like I was compulsive about school staying up all night workin and jerkin off my future looked pretty bright then the meds destroyed all my energy, motivation, desire, ect.

All the info on omega 3 is either which way one says it increases one thing while other articles say it’s the opposite. It’s a bunch of bullshit it either increases serotonin or or it increases dopamine whatever they tell I’ve looked into the chemistry of it they don’t increase both at the same time.

Also off topic but I’ve heard that bremelanotide a variant of melanotan 2 not to be confused with melatonin is the most effective libido booster but the FDA shot it down oddly because it caused a moderate 2% increase in blood pressure? The company is now producing a drug without the elevated blood pressure side effect but does anyone know any reputable online pharmacy’s (most of them are shit) that sell either melanotan 2 or bremelanotide. Like peptidesdirect.com are they reputable?

I’m a newbie so I can only post in this thread not the sexual health.

Ask your Doctor if you can stop your meds. Or if you have done so, your body should correct itself eventually.Don’t expect to stop on Monday and be normal again on Tuesday. Fish oil will probably help to restore balance.Don’t go crazy with the stuff and take massive doses. Some supplements may reverse negative sides while on drugs but not being on drugs will work better usually.

Reynolds,

You took Lexapro - for how long? Anything else? Are you taking anything now? If not, how long since you stopped?

Anti-Depressants especially SSRI’s are very dangerous to mental health. Most doctors prescribe these before effectively diagnosing someone with a specific illness.I have seen many people come into my clinic and get SSRI’s only to come back a week later or less with more anxiety and a host of other side effects. These pills alter brain chemicals which even the most prominent doctors in the field are not 100% sure of the effects. They take 4-6 weeks or more to fully saturate the system which can lead to a hellish 4-6 weeks of a multitude of negative symptoms.I am sure there is people who do benefit from them but I believe doctors need to figure more about the patient and the problem before prescribing these pills.

Most doctors fail to ask whether the depressed subject is eating healthy and exercising everyday which is very important to people with anxiety and depression issues.

I always thought talk therapy should be the first step in treating any form of depression or anxiety.

Slightly sweeping statements there, ograx.

The exact mechanism of how these medicines work is unknown.

The exact mechanism of how depression and anxiety works is unknown.

Yet a huge percentile of doctors upon hearing about a patients problem will prescribe these medicines without first sending the patient to a Psychiatrist or doing tests to see if there is a detectable underlying cause.

I do believe these medicines can help people but I believe they are used way too much when other solutions are available.

I work in a clinic where the sole purpose is to help teens who are facing problems such as anxiety and depression.

I have found that most teens that are depressed benefit alot more from talk therapy, diet change and exercise.

When a person has something like Bi-Polar disorder or severe depression though medicine is necessary.

If you feel like shit everyday maybe it’s because you eat fast food 3 times a day, get no exercise and sit around playing video games all day. ( A majority of teens coming in with anxiety and depression problems have this lifestyle.)

In order for our bodies and brains to function right we need to nourish and exercise them.

Man. I take seroquel, an anti-psychotic, and have been on zoloft, cymbalta, and wellbutrin. If I stopped taking these at any time, it takes about a couple weeks and I start feeling “normal” slowly again. But I think a bad thing is when you take a high dose and/or for to long. For me when I did this I went crazy and all I could do was think about killing someone and or myself. It is the worst feeling to be on something, and I wish I didnt have to take this stuff. I think you will eventually get back to “normal”, though that “normal” is probably different than you remember. Taking vitamins and healthy supplements, eating right, and exercise DO help, so much, I believe with a majority of problems.

It does sound like medicine wouldn’t be the first option in those cases, I agree.

Here are two medical people who actually treat people in their own practice with what they wrote. Both wrote separate books that I feel were decently researched with footnotes, etc… as compared to some tard on the Internet rambling in infinite posts out of order. The first guy seems to have an updated book from 2003, I only have a 2001 edition that talks specifically about how diet interacts with orthomolecular treatment. He divides people into 6 groupings which is very pop psychy but readable. The second is a Chiropractor who hates meds and the drug industry. He has recent footnotes on anything and everything he wrote in his book. I bought both books used. I love toilet time master piece theatre and these books are written for the layman. No need for some college classes to grasp what they are saying. Both authors offer semi-rough estimates answered through a series of questionnaires to kind of peg where you are at. Depression, Anxiety, Add, Etc… are all answered out on these two.

Pick up both books and decide for yourself. Even try them out at your library if you are that cheap.

I take it I’m the tard?

Those books look like a good read, patient results are what matters in the end.
