wannabehorse. Been thinking about this. L - Citrulline converts into L- arginine in the body over time so it gives a longer vascdilatory effect than L - arginine which might explain why your doc said to stay off it the day before and after taking the viagra. Perhaps L- arginine could be taken the day before but not on the day. As far as stroke is concerned I suppose the dilatory effect stretching blood vessels (by increasing NO) might lead to stroke in a susceptible person even with the reduced blood pressure by rupturing a vessel..
I wish someone with medical knowledge would comment on this as I have read of a number of men taking viagra or cialis with L - arginine etc. In the meanwhile I will follow your Doc’s advice.

No Its effect is relatively short term. I take 2 gms of L-arginine and L -Citruline ( a teaspoon of each)half an hour before exercise. Believe it helps with my exercise as well as improving my EQ
