Determining warm or cool skintones, I can't find mine!

I’m doing lots of reading on what type of skintone I am because I am purchasing some eyeglasses this week so I can take my contacts out 6 weeks for laser eye surgery.

I need some experts to determine what color bases are right for me:

1. Eye color: dark brown
2. Hair color: dark brown
3. Skin color: pale with beige tint, no freckles, sometimes sunburn

Here are the problems I’m facing:

Quote
The Vein Test
Probably the most widely used, the vein test is an easy way to determine your skin tone. In natural light (during the day, stand by an open window), make a fist and examine your inner wrist. What color are the veins? Veins that are mainly blue are a sign of cool tones, while green veins are a hint that you are warm toned. If your veins are a mix of blue and green, it could be a sign that you are neutral toned. Lucky you!

The Silver/Gold Test
It’s a little known fact that warm and cool and gold and silver go hand in hand. If you can, find a piece of silver fabric and piece of gold fabric. Stand in front of a mirror in natural light. Hold each piece of fabric next to your face, one at a time and examine. If the silver makes your face light up, you are most likely cool toned. If the gold makes you look fresh and alive, you are probably warm toned.

If you do not know your skintone, you can estimate it by referring to the following chart:

Cool: Eyes are typically blue or grey. Haircolor typically blonde, brown or black. Skin has definite blue and pinkish undertones. Cool-toned people look best in colors such as blue, red, pink and purple, or “gem-tones”. Usually look best in silver jewelry. In natural light, the color of the veins on the underside of your wrist are bluish. You can wear a white shirt and it is flattering on you.

Neutral: Eyes may be any color. Hair may be any color. Skin has unspecifiable undertones, such as pink, olive or yellow. Those with neutral coloring can wear just about any color clothing and look good. Can wear gold or silver jewelry (no preference as to which looks better)

Warm: Eyes are typically brown, green or hazel. Haircolor typically brown, black, red, auburn, blonde or strawberry blonde. Skin has yellow/orange or olive undertones. Warm-toned people look best in earthy-toned clothing, such as browns, yellows, oranges, yellowish green and ecru. Look best in gold jewelry. In natural light, the color of the veins on the underside of your wrist are greenish. You are most flattered by an off-white, cream or ecru shirt (i.e. pure white makes you look washed out)

My veins look blue-green! I don’t have any gold jewelry to compare with silver, I only have silver because I like silver more.

I know what shape of glasses to get, just not what color! Obviously, it should be gold or silver, right?

Assuming that the laser surgery will allow you to see without glasses or contacts then it probably doesn’t matter what you get.

However, I’d suggest something like this:

I go for that gold glasses pimp look, cartier glasses are always hot, I got gucci glasses… cheaper than cartier but still nice and gold ;)

Girth gains for better sex, length gains for a worthless ego boost.

GOAL: 6" EG

I got the point. I just don’t understand why you can’t figure it out yourself. Or ask a woman, they know about these things. Regardless, my point is still valid. If they’re going to be temporary glasses until you have the surgery why spend a lot of money?

When a gay guy is telling you not to spend the money on clothes/accessories and looking fabulous, I don’t think you have really thought your master plan through, son.
Fuel is expensive now, better to have a tankful than hitchike in the middle of pigknuckle dressed all pretty and such.

I know Lewd Ferrigno personally.

Can’t really help you. But perhaps if you placed an ad on your local Craigslist or even in a far away city or even used the discussion forums there you will get plenty of advice, some even helpful for free. Beauty/Fashion on the left of the screen look like what you would want.

Maybe someone in the know will chime in here.

However, spend your money wisely. That is my only advice.

I’m also not sure which I am, so maybe it isn’t very accurate?

Maybe you should ask for opinion from the people who work there, or take someone with you and ask them which looks best?

Maybey I’m warm, or neutral.

Springer,

What colors do you have in your closet now? Most of us tend to gravitate toward the right shades to begin with.

Do you:

Have lots of sage greens, browns, yellow, and oranges? Or:

Blues, emerald greens, reds (blue red not orange red), white, black.

Do you like vibrant colors or softer shades?

Perfer gold over silver or silver over gold for jewerly?

Have a reddish/yellowish undertone in your skin or a pinkish/bluish undertone to your skin. (Best seen upper chest/lower neck level or inside of forearm)

When you wear certain colors do people ask you if you are ill or not feeling good? Or do they compliment you on how great you look when wearing certain colors?

By examining the response of others you can determine whether or not you are a warmer or cooler shaded person, and then its are you a winter/summer or spring/fall type color person. (Gee something else to worry about)

FYI, I’m a cool winter.

sunny A day without sunshine is like a day without laughter :sun:

I too, am a cool winter. I went to Walmart, and took a picture of my hand against a gold lame fabric and silver lame fabric. I look like a corpse against gold, and alive and fleshy against silver.

It’s just hard enough for me to determine which colors are cool, and which are warm. Most fabrics are bright, whether warm or cool, so i often have difficulty determining the difference since all colors seem to pop out when I look at them.

This shit here is a dead ringer for ‘best of forum 2008’.

Go for silver springer. I think the warm skin tones looking better in gold is stupid- for some warm types yes, for others, no. You feel better with silver, go with silver- you feel better in it and like to “look good” so chances are you’re on the money.

Metinks the corpse look is a non-starter for most hot chicks.

Go silver.

I wear reading glasses sometimes at the office or reading- warm skintoned- and I’ve got a couple pairs each in silver and black.

What about black or tortoise shell?

Ooop!

Now I’ve done it.

I’m neutral I guess, everything looks good on me haha.
