Blood Pressure

Could having low blood pressure have anything to do with having trouble getting and maintaining good erections?

Can anyone chime in?

Any comments anyone?

Depends on how low. If only slightly low then maybe not. People who have low bp faint when standing up in a hurry. To counter this, some reseach believes drinking two glasses of water raises the pressure enough to counter the fainting. Try this a see if it makes any difference.

Low BP should not effect erection quality or the ability to maintain one. Its the amount of blood entering the penis that controls that. I would recommend you talk to your doctor about the issue. It could be that you have some blockage and that isn’t allowing for good blood flow, just out of curosity, what is your cholestrol level? It could also be that one of your chambers has a slow leak. Only a doctor will know for certain what is causing the erection difficulties, especially in maintaining an erection.

Wadfile, I have low BP, my normal is 90/60 and I don’t faint if I stand up to quickly. I’m more likely to do that if my inner ear disorder is acting up or if my blood sugar drops too far.

There seems to be no correlation between having very low blood pressure normally and also having difficulty getting hard erections. Blood pressure which is low but sufficient to carry on daily tasks is also sufficient to supply the penis.

It is, sort of in a nutshell, the relaxation of smooth “muscle” tissue in the penis which allows blood to flow in and engorge the penis. This happens in normal healthy men regardless of their BP levels. Ironically, it is high blood pressure which so often causes ED.

Apparently i have lowish blood pressure and it was just a thought that it might have affected my erections.
