Hairloss - Rethinking my decision

A year ago I think, or less, I posted a thread about my hairloss and I decided after taking generic propecia for a while, and feeling negative side-effects, to stop taking anything against hairloss.

I’m still losing hair and I trim my hair every 2 or 3 days, because having it any longer it will look “ugly”. So I’m rethinking my decision and I want to try something else.

Does Rogaine or any other products like that work?

Lame,

What kind of negative side effects are you having?

You all are still missing the point... The story was great and all but should have ass (and) some anal in it.- RWG

Here is my secret.

go to 15% HIGH STRENGTH Minoxidil Hair Loss Products

Hair loss is either DHT or an allergic reaction (immflammation)

You will have to pay for their prescription (cheap) and fill out some paperwork before you can shop there.

In the a.m. I use Folligen shampoo (mainly because of the copper peptides - anti-inflammitory). Available at Reducing the Diseases of Human Aging with GHK-Cu | Help Hair Loss and Stimulate Hair Growth with Copper Peptides | Home Page
In the morning I use Xandrox 15. I contains 15% minoxidol and 5% azealaic acid. Minoxidol is a potassium channel K opener, allowing hair to grow faster. Azealaic acid helps remove DHT.
Then I use a topical called Spironolactone %5 morning and night which is a very good at removing DHT.
At night I use their Regrowth Shampoo. 2% Ketoconanzole (good at removing DHT). 3% salicylic acid to counter the keto for drying out your scalp. :)
I get a script from my doctor for Proscar. Its the exact same thing as Propecia (finasteride). Proscar comes in 5mg tabs vs Propecias 1mg. So I got a razor blade from the store and cut it into 1/4th. Finasteride is a type 2 5ar inhibitor, not allowing testosterone to convert to DHT. There is something out called Avodart (prescription) that eliminate a lot of the DHT from the body, but is only marginially better on the scalp (where it counts - 30 % I believe). I wouldnt recommend this at all. We here plenty about DHT being bad for the prostate and hair, but it also does plenty of good. So completely eliminating it for inside the body is a no no IMO.

Hair goes through 3 cycles in approximately 1 years time. 1 of them is a growth phase, 1 is dormaint, and 1 is shedding. So it takes time. 2 years ago my hair was getting pretty thin, im only 32, so it was really bugging me. This regimen will only grown hair that is still there, no matter how thin it is. If the follicle is gone, then you are out of luck. 2 years later I am still seeing results, and unfortrunately I will have to continue this for life to maintain my hair. Good luck, I know how bad it sucks waiting.

Rogaine 5% will stop it or at least slow it down. If you don’t want to take Propecia which works the best you can try this stuff. I used it and it really did make my hair thicker. I may try it again if I ever can’t get the Propecia on the Internet

I haven't failed, I've found 10,000 ways that don't work. Thomas Edison (1847-1931)

789 I got less sexual desire while I was taking propecia and my doctor told me, that he don’t recommend me taking it and it would be better having less hair than any negative side-effects from propecia. That’s why I’m thinking about taking Rogaine.

I’m only 22 and I thought there could be some negative effects from taking propecia that we don’t know now.
I still got my generic propecia from India that I could take again.

Fieldmouse my dermatologist ounce gave me a prescription for a product called minoxidol I think, I can’t remember but it was very expensive and soon it was empty.

Dino I think I will order some bottles of rogaine. I have nothing to lose… yet I got some hair to lose and some money too ;) , anyway I don’t want to be bald at the age of 24.

Rogaine contains Minoxidil.

If I was you I would try Propecia again.
Maybe the side effects will go away after some time?

This site is a good source of information Hair Transplant Advice | HairSite.com

I know people here are going to slate me for this, but… saying DHT is the cause of hairloss is about as accurate as saying calories cause obesity. While there is some truth to it, it’s not the whole story and certainly not the whole answer. If you spend some time browsing the site mentioned above by Peter F you can find tons of information to support this (it’s a very depressing site btw).

Whatever method finally proves to grow hair successfully, I believe it will be a multi-pronged therapy. First you need to stop whatever is causing the condition (starts with DHT way upstream but becomes an ezymatic issue at ground zero). Second you need to get the scalp back in good condition (hair won’t grow through an armour plated scaly fibrous scalp). Third you need to remove inflammation and improve lymphatic drainage (see Michael S Foote references on the above site). Fourth you need to encourage angiogenesis (to supply blood and nutrients once more where the rivers have run dry). Finally you need to persuade the hair bulb back into telogen phase.

For now, a combo of Minox and DHT suppressor handles most of these to some degree (certainly better than either one alone since they treat different symptoms), but it’s not a radically effective solution. I’ve used both, and I don’t bother with either now. I may go back on the finasteride at some point, but I’m taking an extended break from it for at least 6 months to give my body time to recover from it after many years.

Shiver why do you take an extended break? Any side-effects?
Peter Forsberg nobody really knows what are the longterm side-effects of propecia. When I took propecia I had some ED, which I never had before.

Perhaps I’m going to take a very small dose of my 5mg pills generic product combined with rogaine.

Lamesize, I took a break when I realised a couple of things:

1. DHT is a very necessary hormone in your body for many functions. I’ve seen slides of the CC in people with DHT supression and it was a tangled mess of fibres. I figure I’ve been on finasteride enough years which, especially when combined with PE, has probably made it very different to the regular undulating tissue it probably was as a teenager.

2. Although I never suffered any side effects from finateride under normal circumstances, I did notice that it’s best effectiveness was at the beginning, and over time the hair loss progressed slowly. I now know that androgen receptors vary in quantity and sensitivity based on the amount of hormone available to some degree. I figured that the AR woud unregulate to compensate for the loss of DHT. I quit finasteride several months back and saw some shedding as a result. After a couple of months though the shedding has reduced a lot. The shedding is still there today, though not at such an alarming rate. If I go back on finasteride now I expect it will almost halt hair loss for a while, to the point I will probably be at the same place I would have been had I continued. In the meantime I’ve give my body I fresh dose of DHT with sensitised AR. Since I don’t want BPH though I’ve been taking a mild aromatase inhibitor while off finasteride.

I’m using Rogaine now and I hope I will see some changes in a month or two, I’m going to let you know if it works for me.

Guys, not that I am an expert but hairloss can also be hereditive (?). Hm, I really don´t know the english word for this. Something that is genetically inherited from your parents, mainly through the mother and her father. One can very often spot similar hairlines from grandpa (via mother) to grandchild (son). Anyhow; if you suspect that it is genetic than there is a product out there called RECAPEEN which is a swedish product and it works like a charm! On the 21st of november I have been on it for 2 months and the difference is HUGE already. Not only does it keep and strengthen your old hair, but it revives the "dead" ones, which really never were dead. Hybernated rather. Apart from adults in my daily surroundings, even my 6 year old told me last night that I am not bald on the top of my head anymore. Believe it or not, it´s a fact. Propecia may work but besides from the side effects it was originally intended for obstructing enlarged prostate. I have also tried Rogaine and I think it´s cheaper to apply cheap liniment from the sport store since rogaine has that in it to increase the blood flow to the scalp. Massage your scalp several times a day with one of those thingys you can massage your partners back with. It has rollers on it with bumps. Eat vitamins and minerals which support hairgrowth. When at home, wear something on your head to keep it warm, and thus increasing the blood flow.

" Recapeen gives new hope for men with androgenetic alopecia (male pattern baldness). Clinical studies show a radical improvement in hair re-growth in 58% of the participants. Recapeen is a whole new hair treatment for men, based on an unique pollen extract that maintains existing hair growth and stimulates the hair growth process. The hair becomes thicker and stronger and the improvement is noticeable already after 2-3 months.

Recapeen is a gel and is very easy to use.

I’ll post again on this. Ive studied this a great deal, and know quite a bit about it. Taking finasteride (propecia/proscar) is only going to inhibit DHT through the 5ar conversion. DHT converts 2 ways, so you are not even going to get close to eliminating DHT from your body. Everything else I recommended is topical. Granted you will probably get some of it in systemic absorption, but not enough to worry about. Hair loss is either DHT or inflammation related. I would like to see a scientific study that shows otherwise. Not some article that some clown wrote on his website claiming he has figured out another reason for hair loss, is pushing his proprietary mixture, will cure it and any cancer you may have, and he has a Ph.D. I forgot to mention 2 years ago my hair had got to the point it was thinning quite badly. Today it is full and thick. There is no need to cycle finasteride, since it doesnt remove that much DHT from the body. Also, minoxidil is a potassium channel K opener, not a DHT remover. All it will do is speed up growing, if it is in the appropriate cycle. If you are in the shedding portion of the cycle, it will fall out faster. Minoxidil (aka rogain) wont give you the results you desire, and you wont see a thing in 2 months. Hair grows in cycles. I dont know what else to tell you but to follow my regime. Like I said I have studied it a great deal.

2 things:
1) If your prostate started to flare up, you would know it. BPH doesnt happen silently. It may also be a case of family history (genetics)
2) How would an AI which is for estrogen, be helpful in prostate protection? Are you suggesting that estrogen plays a role in BPH? There is no mild AI’s, unless you mean a small dose.

One more thing KinXXXize, if you dont want to follow my advice, thats fine. :) But im a freakin expert on it. Im not posting anymore in this thread, so good luck. Ive dealt out the relevant information.

Just kidding, I am an expert too and I have tried it all…and if you by DHT mean Dihydrotestosteron I second that as being what I meant by hereditive (inheritive?) hairloss. What you inherit genetically is the disadvantage of producing too much DHT which affects your hairsacks (?) (follicles?) ability to produce hair. For example Finasterid (propecia) blocks an enzyme called 5 alpha-reducta which in turn produces DHT. Minoxidil (rogaine) is mostly found in medicin which reduces high bloodpreassure but also enhances the blood flow to the scalp. The actual working mecanism is NOT known. Rogaine only, I repeat: ONLY affects DHT and nothing else such as sickness or injury.

There are actually more than two reasons for hairloss:

1. Medical causes - medicins & deceases

2. Mecanical causes- damage to hair and/or scalp

3. Chemical causes- A reaction or imbalance from being exposed to chemical products

4. Stress

5. Genetics

Anyway; each and every one has to dig deep and decide on what they are into. Recapeen works for me and I was bald on the top front of my head 2 months ago. It does what it was designed to do and is not a side-effect of some other purpose. Actually, if I could afford it I would combine all of the above.

Hm, the hair is coming back and my little fellow has gained 0.5” both ways in my first month. Aint life sweet!

Good luck to everyone! I know I am. Lucky that is…. I`ve added to the relevant information.
