Taking SSRIs on your own, specifically to treat premature ejaculation. And taking SSRIs to treat depression (but with the added benefit of alleviating PE symptoms) are two completely different things. Just asking you to clarify why you started taking SSRIs.
I’ve taken SSRIs to treat depression AND I’ve been hanging weight from my dick for a couple years now. I’ve experience with both.I WOULD suggest hanging weight from your dick. I would NEVER suggest taking an SSRI. Unless you’ve TRULY exhausted all other treatment options for depression. Are you aware of the widely reported sexual dysfunction from stopping SSRIs? (EG low libido and premature ejaculation) Or the other issues like suicidal thoughts, mood swings, and depression?
I don’t care that you do it. That’s fine. You’re doing fine. I’m worried about other individuals who’s only problem is premature ejaculation. Taking an SSRI. And coming out the other end 10x worse than they were before. This isn’t Vitamin D3. It’s a powerful drug that’s meant to affect your brain chemistry in a powerful way.
Here are some anecdotes from people who stopped taking SSRIs: https://www.red dit.com/r/AskRe … sri_withdrawal/
Don’t know if you saw my post a page or two back in this thread, but I started taking paroxetine 2.5mg/day for chronic PE and could fuck like a pornstar. Then I had to take 5mg. Then 10mg would often still fail. This whole process of desensitization to the drug took around a year and a half. I’d cycle off it when the wife was on her period and other times I knew we weren’t going to have sex. All said and done it left me a little worse off than before. I suggested this issue of reducing serotonin receptor density, that could partly explain getting worse over the long term. When you over saturate receptors they become less sensitive and the number of receptors also decrease.
XL, how long have you taken the sertraline for?
I see taking the med for PE as legitimate. I’ve had two significant relationships in my life blow up because of my severe PE and it caused so much pain and trauma to me that it seems as legitimate as using it for depression my concern is the long term effects possibly worsening the problem that they’re taking it for in the first place.
