No More Porn For Me

Great post.

I quit watching porn just as much because of all the abuse in the porn industry. I`m not interested in supporting that in any way.

I recommend Natural Grounding (google it) as a great tool for you guys who want to quit porn. Beyond being just very pleasant, it will rewire your beliefs about women and make it easier to attract women.

^Sounded like new age BS to me at first glance … “alpha power, truth, flow and value”, I hate it when nothing terms like these are used …but I’m still reading, & I like the underlying idea- much better than the pre rehearsed PUA pick up crap.

I understand your skepticism and that`s why I heard about natural grounding for years before I even bothered to look at it. Make your own judgments :) I think Rion is a lousy teacher, but he has some good ideas.

Wow, co sign. Porn is such a waste of time, it’s sad most of us had problems with it. I’ve tried to stop watching porn a few times, actually with great success, but then I started hanging, and I can’t keep me shit flaccid without jacking off with porn. After reading this though, I’m gonna do everything I can to hang without jacking off period.

Thanks for the post paulski

Goal: Any visible increase in size, so I can lay my doubts to rest.

I think porn in many cases improves libido. If used regularly each day, it can reduce it. All things in good judgement. If you’re in a rut and see no other way out, then go cold turkey. Cold turkey is a fine tool too. If porn occasionally used and turns you back into a horny bastard to later do fantastic things to pleasure your partner, then use it. Any tool has its uses. Like any area of life requiring responsibility and discipline, take exhaustive steps to reconfigure your whole life around being responsible in that area.

On the matter of whether porn reduces our desire or respect for women, or encourages poor life choices for women - society already does these things without porn. Mainly because we as men are bastards even before porn existed, and, because of the Y chromosome. Porn is simply one reflection of the most base instincts in a society, that’s why it’s so hard to avoid. But it is perhaps no different from dirty dancing, provocative behavior, gossip about one’s love life, areas in which females may struggle and find equally addictive and troubling. Some women love to gossip, express opinion, and involve themselves in judging matters in other people’s private life to such a degree, that they lose interest or wreck their own, which creates a not too dissimilar set of issues have on the male side. Anyway those are my personal theories, feel free to refute or nullify.

I agree with the point about porn being a libido kick in some cases. There have been times when I get in a porn viewing session and leave with the libido at full blast, wanting to stick it to my better half. However, I think in my case the time wasted by making it a habit outweighs the benefits.

I think I’m on day 12 now…I don’t remember the exact day that I stopped (it could have been one of two days). Holding up well!

Dudes, don’t forget the fact that regular orgasm promotes good prostate health. Guys that orgasm 2x a week have much less risk for prostate cancer. Not only that, if you abstain from orgasm for longer than 7 days your testosterone levels drop significantly.

So if you’re giving up porn, cool, you may have many good reasons to do so, but don’t be afraid to rub one out every now and again for sexual, and just overall health.

Also, the comparisons of porn to cocaine in the past replies are somewhat overblown. While there are similarities from a dopamine standpoint, there are so many other (destructive) chemical reactions associated with blow that go way beyond simple stuff like masturbation. I don’t think anyone has ever OD’ed from wacking one too many.

Just keep in mind that health and wellness are larger than the examination of a few choice chemicals and responses to addictive materials/situations. I’ll say one last thing and shut up -

Paleo Diet. Shameless plug here for overall physical and mental health. When you supply your body with the right food for building and maintaining, it’s chemical state is balanced in closer accordance with how we evolved, and it tends to naturally lead to “normal” behavior. Makes things like addiction recovery just a little easier.

I just quit cold turkey. I have a library of pictures of the wife and that’s the only thing I do look at when I feel the need. The upside is a amazing. I do read erotica from time to time. It allows me to use my mind imagining the situations. I stay away from the stories that are over the top. I’ve found that not viewing movies or pictures of the over the top stuff has really made a huge change. Morning wood, spontaneous erections and erections during sex have all improved dramatically.

Inadvertently saw a live Jasmine pop up the other day, chick was n00d, I did look for around 10 seconds but no masturbation- I consider myself still in the game. It’s getting easier. I think around the 2-5 day mark is the hardest.

I agree, because I have the same problem! There are a lot of negative affects to porn, I’d rather just live without it completely, rather than messin’ around and “enjoying it responsibly”.

Where did you get this information concerning testosterone drop off after 7 days? I haven’t heard that before. Also, there’s ways to increase testosterone to offset this effect (if it’s even true) like working out with weights, HIT training, changes to diet etc.

You may feel horny while watching porn, but that only sets your mental sensitivity to a higher threshold which won’t be met by stimuli from real world sex. The sex drive is both mentally and physically conditioned. One can be in excellent physical shape and still lack drive, if there is no mental stimulation.

This has been my experience also. I have a good diet, exercize, am mentally healthy (apart from problems with porn) but my libido is shot and I put that down to porn abuse. I want my natural lust for real women back. Those were the days.

I sense a certain establishment agenda here, so forgive my chiming in. Certainly, some behaviors are in themselves self-destructive and I hope folks seek help, or, really do go cold turkey. Trial and error, do what works. But let’s not forget, if it were not for the *positive* benefits of pornography, essentially changing the sexual landscape completely, we’d still be back in the 40’s and 50’s when people had “intercourse”, and blowjobs were totally off the radar. Today’s modern blowjob is as mainstream as peanut butter and jelly. And we can forget about anal or 3:1.

Way I see it (preface: I am not a shrink) addiction to porn is a lack of priorities. Let’s find better things to do with our time. Porn doesn’t affect our judgement, like drugs, or destroy us physically in any way, at least not long term. The only detriment could possibly be relational, and loss of employment, friends, or a real life. Of course, if you’re really young and possibly inexperienced you may end up with the impression with porn that women simply adore ATM. Then probably you believe other things like what the news and the movies teach you as well, and you’ve likely got much bigger problems than too much jerking off or porn induced ED. No harm done, we’ve all been there. But let’s educate ourselves, and enjoy ourselves. Porn addiction is a problem with time, and hormones. Try to be more responsible to life/work boundaries. Find a more demanding job, find some homework to do, join a library group, hang out with friends. Maybe go find a partner that’s more open to sexual fantasies or is more exciting to share your life with. Re-arrange your priorities and turn off the computer unless it’s for work. Go get an exercise addiction to fix your hormones. /end rant against the machine

I’m not sure how one man’s battle against pornography addiction is some sort of conspiracy theory. You’re an adult and you can make your own choices. I choose not to watch porn anymore. Do what you like.

Ok now he’s gone…comrades come and join me down at the docks for our monthly “union meeting”. :-P

+1 to wanting to give up because it’s had a negative effect on myself and the way I perceive things.
