Opting for circumcision

Hell no. DO NOT get circumsized. Everyone thats uncut knows that they have far more pleasure and sensitivity on the head than cut guys. Plus, uncut guys dont need lube.

It’s just simply mutilation. I have yet to here a good reason why this is performed.

I don’t feel strongly about this issue, but you anti-circumcision guys are way overstating your case.

1. From a 2004 medical journal article : "Several studies in Africa and India have now conclusively demonstrated a 2-7-fold protective effect of male circumcision against HIV infection. Circumcision removes the inner foreskin and the frenulum, which are the prime sites of HIV entry into the penis. Since male circumcision also protects men from human papilloma virus infection, and their wives from cervical carcinoma, the procedure should be encouraged in developed and developing countries."

From another 2004 medical journal (you can find dozens of recent articles of these kinds): "Circumcision has elicited more controversy and war of words than any surgical procedure in history. Although previous claims of benefits like curing masturbation, gout, epilepsy, and even insanity were no doubt absurd, important research has shed light on real medical benefits of circumcision. In particular, the procedure has consistently shown to result in the decreased risk of debilitating and costly diseases such as HIV, cervical cancer, and infantile urinary tract infection."

I understand there is some controversy in the medical community about the relationship between STDs and circumcision, but I don’t think anybody here can just dismiss these kind of statements as a bunch of religiously motivated hooey.

2. I have heard complaints from several women about uncircumcised cocks’ smegma. Yes, yes, I know that if you wash it up right before sex, it shouldn’t be a problem — and for some uncut guys, it’s never a problem — but given the unpredictability of sexual escapades, I’m glad (for the sake of BJs, but also out of empathy, having gone down on some smelly ladies) that my dick is never cheesy. I’ll admit that this issue would disappear entirely if all guys were uncut, since there’d be no comparison group of penises.

Huge bump. Never any science and logic in these type of threads, just opinions based on preference. Someone ALWAYS brings up the mutilation angle.

I think a reasonable approach would be to leave it up to each dude to decide for himself when he reaches an appropriate age. In making such a decision, he should be informed about the evidence for medical benefit as well as the possibility of mutilation (rare but incredibly awful).

I am not sure why this is in the newbie PE forum, but on the topic of circumcision the benefits do not outwiegh the downsides.

Yes you are correct on the benefits on transmitting STDS, although it is not an issue if the uncut person practices foreskin cleanliness. I agree that having to clean your foreskin IS a little annoying at times. However, it takes just a few seconds, so it really isnt much to make a fuss over in the long run.

But consider for a moment, the downside of loss of penile sensitivity…

A recent medical study concluded that circumcised men engage in a wider variety of sexual practices than uncircumcised men. [Perlman] “Although there have been no studies to confirm the idea, it is a ‘reasonable hypothesis’ that if circumcision diminishes sensitivity during intercourse, then men will seek more effective stimulation through other forms of sexual activity or masturbation.” [Van Howe]

“Research published last year in the British Journal of Urology may well explain the links between circumcision, frequent masturbation and oral sex, however. A group of doctors headed by Dr. John R. Taylor at the University of Manitoba discovered that the small sheath of foreskin tissue removed during circumcision is filled with extremely sensitive nerve endings and mucus membrane cells. The head of the penis itself is extremely insensitive to light touch, although it can be stimulated by heavy touch, they found. That lack of sensitivity in the head of the penis may well account for an increased need by circumcised men for the more intense stimulation that masturbation and oral sex can provide, according to Dr. Robert Van Howe…”

“Most circumcised men have only a narrow band of sexually sensitive tissue remaining…”

Clearly, these theories make sense. It makes sense that the penis would lose sensitivity from rubbing against clothing all the time unprotected and exposed. Infact, after circumcision the penis builds a layer of protective skin OVER the sensitive nerve endings to shield it. To make it more clear, consider the purpose of cicumcision:

“Just as with female circumcision in some parts of the world, the intent of male circumcision in America was to control sexual activity. It is clear from the historical evidence that circumcision in America was instituted in a futile attempt to prevent masturbation by reducing sexual sensitivity.” (
FatherMag.com)

Cicumcision was made popular at first to REDUCE masterbation and sexual pleasure. Trust me, coming (no pun intended) from a uncut guy, masterbation is TOTALLY different to us. We require NO lube and expirience much more pleasure because our nerve endings on the tip of the head are still there. It took me until the age of 17 to figure out why people even USED lube…because they were circumcised and couldnt jack off easily without it. I can believe that intercoarse is the same way; from what I have read, less lube is required (because the foreskin slides as a natural lube), and more pleasure is expirienced for the male (the foreskin rubs over the sensitive head nerves).

Yes, being uncut requires foreskin cleaning to prevent smegma and a increased risk at transmitting STDs, but cut if off? At what cost?

Also, for anyone who is unaware, the reference to “human papilloma virus” above means genital warts. This is probably the mediator between circumcision and decreased cervical cancer risk for women, since some strains of HPV are associated with cervical cancer.

Source please? I read nothing on PubMed that said this. The closest I saw was: “Wiping the glans penis and inner foreskin immediately after intercourse with an acidic solution like lemon or lime juice, or even vinegar, should immediately kill the virus and might prevent infection; clinical trials are urgently needed.” That is, perhaps wiping lemon juice on your dick after intercourse will solve the problem; no one knows yet, so let’s find out.

The rest of your post is an assertion that circumcision reduces penile sensitivity. The people best qualified to address this issue are men who have undergone circumcision at a later age. Only one has chimed in here. He said:

If there have been any medical studies of men who have undergone circumcision later in life and lost sensation, I’d love to see them. For now we have only a single anecdote, and it goes against the (anatomically plausible, given the BJU info) claim that sensation is reduced by circumcision.

Good point. I’ll move it.

I was cut as a newborn and my son is/was not. I hope all men get to choose for themselves.

They can have my foreskin when they pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

They can take mine and chew it like bubble gum for all I care.

Ok, thanks to all who reply here. I decided to keep my unit uncut. However if I were borned being cut, I wouldn’t rejected at all.

Thats an absolutely horrible story and I pray it is not true.

I’m glad you decided to stay uncut. Here in america we uncircumcised men seem likel the minority, but to the rest of the world we are definately the majority. And as someone previously gave the stat that only 60% of newborn boys are circumcised its a nice sign that times are changing.

Unfortunately it’s not too uncommon. With the number of circumcisions performed in this country, there are bound to be complications of all types almost every day. All for an unrequired surgical modification of a baby’s genitals.

Well h*ll, just cut off the whole thing and look how safe you would be!
