From what I’ve researched from Propecia horror stories, half the people claim that rogaine does block DHT while the other half claims it does NOT block DHT. Personally, I have absolutely no idea. All of my symptoms match those of propecia users, even ones I did not attribute to rogaine like emotional numbness, indigestion problems, etc… So that’s kinda why I thought it was from DHT, but then again I could be wrong.

The person who I quoted above claims to be a urologist but this can be bullsh*t as there were no sources, just a reply on a message board. However if what he said is true this can help me tackle my problem from a different angle. Although I wouldn’t see how his views explain my loss of sex drive because it seems that if my problems were caused from vascular dialation in my penis, the problem would simply involve my penis and not my sex drive.

Sorry if I am getting annoying guys. I hit rock bottom last night and almost did something very stupid, if you know what I mean, after reading about people experiencing these symptoms permanently. I am committed now to getting my life back and I will do whatever it takes to do so. I just need to figure out the source of my problem now: Is it lack of DHT production, or from vascular dialiation, or something unbeknownst to me?

There is no reason to hit rock bottom at this point. While it sucks having your symptoms I think that with time your body should be able to recover. Time might mean a few more months, but thankfully you are not at the point like some of those propecia sufferers that have been suffering for years. I’d say that would be the point where rock bottom should come into play. And I’m glad you were able to find a urologist that actually has seen this side effect from Rogaine and is willing to work with you. You really got lucky with this as most urologists would have dismissed this as a side effect.

I really would not mess with hormones at this point. I think that if you increase blood to the penis your libido should come back. I might discuss with your urologist a 5mg daily cialis treatment as I think this could help your erection and libido problems.

What did you do? I’m curious.

Having seen a urologist and, apparently, not getting the help you want, the next question is: have you seen a psychiatrist or psychologist? Some of the symptoms you describe would fall into a category best treated by a mental health professional.

I’m just having a bit of trouble wrapping my head around that. Like if there was just more blood flow to my penis, how would my libido come back? Seems unrelated but I could see that maybe working. I took 5 mg cialis on two occasions in the past week. Both times I wasn’t horny really. The second time I only banged some chick cause I was hammered and wanted to prove to myself that I still could.

Yeah I’ve seen a counsellor

Yeah I’ve seen a counsellor

The whole blood flow thing is just a theory that I have seen mentioned a few other places. I agree that it does sound weird but I noticed after I injured my penis that my libido decreased instantly. However, when the blood flow started to get better to the penis I noticed an increase in libido. Other people that have had injuries have had this happen to them as well. Although my penis is still in bad shape, at least my libido has gotten better. I just figure in your case it is worth a shot as I do believe it is a safer alternative than messing with hormones.

Also, since you are still able to have sex and maintain an erection you are in a lot better shape than others with ED issues.

Yeah I can see that working now. Like initially when there was no blood flow to my dick I just got so depressed that maybe that caused the loss of libido. What have you done to increase blood flow? I have been tryin BTB jelqing and occasional jelqing but I’m not so sure how often I should be doin PE with my current situation, I don’t wanna screw things up more. If you don’t mind me asking how did you injure your penis? Maybe that can help me shed some light on my situation. Thanks again for your help man.

I also used Nizoral during my bout with Rogaine which I hear has antiandrogenic properties?

Are you serious? You need to stop the PE- take a few months off. That would be absolutely idiotic for you to keep PEing with regard to your current situation. You keep attributing your symptoms to the rogaine use, but have you ever wondered what over-exertion to your dick might do? “Correlation does not imply causation.” Meaning, just because you used rogaine and it MIGHT have done something to your hormones/dick, doesn’t mean that it is the cause of your issues. A minor PE injury seems like a more probable reason. But it just seems easier to pin the issue on rogaine, especially if your use of rogaine overlapped the time of your injury, and the timing of the occurrence lead you to believe it was the rogaine. In my opinion, I don’t think the rogaine is what messed you up that bad (I think you said you used 5% minox for a while?). But I am not you, and I do not know for sure.

Having said that, your implications of suicide are forcing me to leave the thread. I don’t want to get involved in that. Bro, you should never, ever, take your own life. No matter what. I’ve been low, but no matter what, don’t even think about that. I think you are too worried about your dick and that is causing you a lot of anxiety, I can understand that. Just get on with your life, let your dude chill out for a bit, try not to masturbate or don’t let the broad-shouldered girl whack you off, and give it time to heal. Then come back with a clearer head to reevaluate things if they aren’t back to normal, which they probably will be. Peace and love, IV.

Invictus, I understand what your saying. Weird thing was I wasn’t doing any PE at all and haven’t really been doing anything since that shit started. I’m gunna let this thread die down now. I’ve gotten some great advice here from people but I’m just done worrying about this.

I wanted to share this with everyone.

I have been off of Rogaine for 20 days now. My magical time where I had great erections and lasting time are a thing of the past. I feel the same as I always do, whether I am on Rogaine or not. I do not know why I felt so great for that brief period in time, and I may never know.

But, I still am a premature ejaculator with bad EQ whether I take Rogaine or not.

I Still Thinking Of Your Problem.

I hope that’s not the case, please come back and update, because your last post was in this thread which was like 2 weeks ago now.. Good luck.

3 months, still not fully recovered. Improved though, I guess. Managed to get it up with a girl, although it was a weak erection/came quick. Still have low libido/ premature ejaculation, although it seems a bit better than before where I had NO libido. I noticed I’m having better blood circulation throughout the day, my penis seems a bit more normal in its flaccid state but I only get erections if I try to, I don’t have nocturnal erections. I thought I’d be back to normal by now, I still don’t have “my” dick back. This is taking way too long, I’m going to see the urologist next week.

Obafemi, IMO 20 days isn’t enough. If you used to have great EQ while off it, try staying off rogaine for a bit longer. I mean it took me 3 months and I’m much better now, that may just be from the lack of depression though. How’s your libido?

It has now been ~34 days. No increase in premature ejaculation yet. But my balls hang much lower and my penis much fuller. But that’s it. I am going to start stretching soon. I have very, very tight muscles, to the point that I walk with a limp in the mornings and when i sit down too long. I think that stretching will help my muscles and I will be less tense, which may improve my premature ejaculation.

My libido is “normal,” in the sense that I don’t feel like it has improved since my withdrawal from Rogaine.
