Cable clamps in the UK?

To create my wench, I still need the nylon strap and the grippers. Anyone have any idea where I can get these from?

I got the nylon strap from B&Q - they have strap in the same place as the rope on the reels.

I can’t remember what my grippers originally were. I know they were wedge shaped, so I Stanley knifed them then glued them ‘back to back’ with Araldite to get the shape I wanted. They do the job just fine, but I still prefered to just use my hands.

I am experimenting with mouse pad cut into strips. I did get some “felt” grippers from B & Q, but they were rubbish.

I too am struggling to find the UK equivalent of what the yanks use. I would like feed back too on this!

I have found a shop in the Midlands who sells the re-usable cable clamps that the yanks are using for clamping. They are plastic and come four to a pack. Two large ones and a couple of small ones (which I don’t think you could use for clamping)

I am not sure if I am suppose to post his telephone details on this thread, so if you PM me I will let you have his number. They are not 100% sure about posting, but if you say you will pay postage and packing I am sure they will help you out. Their shop is jammed packed full of DIY stuff and I mean jam packed, so much so its difficult to walk in the shop!

I walked in and bought a pack about a month ago and it was about a £5.00 so no one was being ripped off.

If I can do I will post full details. They don’t have a web site they are a small Aladdin’s cave of tools, and just about everything else you could think of!

Hope this helps, they do have exactly the same plastic cable clamps the yanks use, and I have looked every where for them. Two large and small one in the same pack, only a few quid.

If you wanted re-usable cable ties (like the thin zip locks ones) Halfords stock them - 15 for £ 4.00 (approx)
