Cable clamps in the UK?

Hi, does anyone know where I can purchase Cable clamps in the UK??

My search for them is becoming tedious. :(

B and Q is said, repeat, said to have them. But my sortie into the store just produced a blank stare.

It might be better if you can take a icture of them with you when you go shopping. Rather thn trying to describe them

I didn’t have much luck finding them in the UK, but getting them shipped from the US site didn’t prove much of a problem.

E-bay has a whole bunch of them. It’s where I get mine.

R Dopa: It’s difficult isn’t it!? I have seeon them in America and they are quite expensive and usually only come in bulk packs of 12 or 6 ect. I only want one! :)

sugarfree: I have seen them on ebay but they don’t have any actually in the UK. Otherwise, shipping pricing can be horrendous.

I suppose I may end up just having to import them. I want to make the Captn’s Wench, and this is why I need the cable clamp. Does anyone here have one they could sell to me (in the UK) for a very reasonable price?

Also, I can’t seem to find the correct size of floor skid protectors because we don’t have a Walmart here in the UK…

Actually, I guess they might work out pretty expensive shipped from the US with the current exchange rate. The pound has tanked lately, when I ordered it was still 2 USD to the GBP. If you manage to find the parts for the captain’s wench I’d be very interested, I wanted to build one myself.

Maybe we need a thread specific to finding PE supplies in the UK? I’ve already posted threads on finding equivilent pumps to the freight harbor tools one, it would be useful to consolidate all this information for others.

Yeah, the rate is a little pestering at the moment. I am currently looking for all of the parts, and once I find them at reasonable prices, I will post where and how much they can be bought for in the UK, if not all the parts, then at least some of them

Thats a real good idea, because many of the DIY hangers, bibs, ADS, contain parts which seem almost unavailable to the UK.

B&Q have stopped stocking them. I don’t know of anywhere else in the UK that has them. I got all the parts for a captains wench at Homebase. I seem to remember I couldn’t get the right grippers, but got something similar that worked fine.

Use your initiative - when the Captain invented the wench, he had to start from scratch. Imagine what you want the parts to do, then go find parts that will do the job. You may even come up with something better than the original design!

I suppose I will have to do just that.

Thin cable clamps (ties) can be bought from Halfords, they sell the re-usable ones and are about £3 per pack of 10.

I have found the bigger cable clamps at a tiny hardware shop, if you PM me I’ll get their telephone number for you and you can ring them, again the were only a few quid for a pack of two large ones and two smaller ones. I am sure the guy will post them to you. Unless the moderator says its ok to post their phone number publicly.

I have a B & Q very close to me and I have searched in there before and in the B & Q depot and never seem them.

I have found that when I can get an erection using clamping- I have to secure the large clamp with the re-usable ties to stop them opening under the pressure. I have posted about this on another thread.

I use the ones from Amazon. Bought 2 packs, not the best quality (I’ve only used them on and off, noticing some wear) but they do the job.
