Cementing Girth Gains

Last year after 2 months of an intense mostly girth routine, I was up to 5.5 EG, after taking time off (about a good 6 months) I’m back down to 5.0 EG. I’m getting back into PE for real this time, so what should I do to make sure i don’t lose the gains like I did last year? I can understand how it might be harder to cement girth gains rather than Erect lengths? Or is it the other way around? GEEZ, can I just get to 7x6 already!
