Electricians: IR Lamp, no 250W fixture, opted for a 125W IR bulb. 12 distance?

I couldn’t get my hands on a fixture that could support a 250W IR bulb. I did find a fixture supporting 150W Max, but I could only find a 125W IR bulb to go along with that (only other option was a 250W bulb). Seeing as 125W is half of 250W, would it be as simple as halving the distance I would have put a 250W bulb at? Optimistic, I know.

I’ve been keeping the 125W bulb 12inches away from me, any more than 14in and it sort of just gets lukewarm in terms of heat. I used 12inches as I originally planned to have kept the 250W bulb roughly 24 inches away. Of course I’m just doing what seems to work for my body, but anyone else have insight on this? I use this for hanging.

Wattage doesn’t equate to heat. It equates to power usage. Measuring calorific value is not done with wattage.

As far as the heat, test differing distances. The greatest wattage is not necessarily best and the optimum distance is one you’re comfortable with that provides enough heat without an IR burn.
