I’m a newb. I’ve never felt abused. Then again I SEARCH for answers for a day before I think about posting them. 90% of the time I have found acceptable answers.

PS- I voted. I did not feel offended. I took it as a joke and it motivated me to do precisely what the thread starter wanted.

Seriously though. The term newbie is indicative of harassment. THat’s just the way it is. In almost every “club” on planet earth, those who are new take a ribbing from time to time. Be a man, take your licks, and get over it. We all did. It’s also sort of a right of passage. A weeding out process if you will. It passes in time. If you endure it then you’ve earned your stripes, and you function as a productive part of the group. If you can’t endure it, good luck to you.

Seriously though, I don’t think we are overly hard on them at all. I’ve been on plenty of other boards where n00bs get slammed in every other post. I would say that we here at Thunder’s are very easy on the newbies.

O.k after reading all of the posts, I have finally seen the errs in my thinking, all of the sarcasm and belittling has made a new man out of me and I thank you all for sharing your wisdom, god I feel so much better, I should try this kind of psychology on my kids I bet it would make them model citizens.

That says a lot about your personality. You’ll fit in well because you know when to admit you’re wrong. A lot of guys (myself included) have trouble sometimes fessing up to what they did. I guess it comes with time, experience, and maturity.

No not really, read the title of the thread is that the way you like to be talked to? I am new to this forum and I didnt like the title, I am not lazy nor am I F*cking lazy and I do know how to use the search before asking questions. Have I asked any of you for help? No, so I don’t like to be told that I have to vote in some poll that I have no clue as to who any of the participants are, so you think what I said was B/S? Well just read the thread, heck even the newbies here are on my butt lol! And I would like to bring up a guy named Kong you guys bashed the other day for posting his views on circumcision so what if you didnt like his post, there was no less than 6 pages of bashing this guy in no time flat. Not a real nice way to be welcomed into a place where guys are supposed to be helping each other out. I’m done, I will be on my way and continue to read and help out were I can, I will not critisize any of you again, for I see you all out number me and it is truely a looseing battle to go against any of you, so enjoy!

Ironically its a vote to see which post was most helpful to a newbie. Maybe next time we’ll do a contest to see who did the best job of ripping a newbie a new one. <——Again, humor. :p

Most members (moderators aside) don’t have any responsibility at all to help anyone out. That’s kind of what this contest does. It thanks and gives a little recognition to people for helping their fellow man.

Sorry, this reply must be a little out of topic, but I’d like to say something.
I’m not biased, but I have found out that some of senior members really act so sarcastically to most of new members.

But at the means time, I also found out that “Moderators”, they really deserve that title :up: beacause they rarely used bad words or critisism and sort of things to the newbies no matter what their questions were.

Come on, we’re coming from different places, we will have for sure different mentality, give us some respect as we do for you.

Too much ” BS ” will discourage people.

I didn’t vote because I missed the thread. I was too busy doing my own research and as much as I’ve gained from the guys on the poll, the most helpful, to me aren’t on it. I’d have voted for westla, or most likely, avocet8.

You said the guys here treat newbies appallingly.

Its BS, like I already said.

A lot of guys take time to out big detailed responses nearly everytime, despite the fact the question may have been asked several times already in that week alone.

You weren’t being “told” to vote, it was light hearted, chill out man.

Just because you “havent asked for help” doesnt mean you cant vote, thats the most ridiculous reason ive ever heard. Have you even LOOKED at the thread with the poll?

Geez, has the human race really become this uptight? The last time I looked, this was a PE forum, with the majority of members being men. What’s wrong with a little friendly ribbing? Being called a ‘newb’ pretty much happens throughout life. Like was said previously, it’s a rite of passage from one stage of life to another; from elementary school to high school, to college and/or the military, and then different jobs throughout your life.
