Passive exercises

My first thread. Yehaa!! :)

I have a question to make and I would like some feedback on the subject. I own an electro-muscular stimulator and I was wondering if I can train my PC muscle this way.

If anyone knows something about the subject please answer. :-P

Thank you in advance.

That’s actually a good point. I don’t know the answer to that question, but when you find out, let us know. In theory it should work, but I haven’t heard of anyone trying.

Dec \'23 -> Feb\'24 17.5cm -> 18.5cm BPEL / 12.7cm -> 13.1 MSEG / 18.5cm -> 18.9cm BPFSL (measuring in mm for accuracy)

My First Real Attempt:

2006 Start: 6.25" BPEL and 5" EG - 2012 7.625" BPEL / 4.875" EG / 8.063" BPFSL. (All manual routine)

I understand the concept but won’t that hurt like the dickens?

Short-Term Goal: 10.25" BPEL

"Take it Slow and Watch it Grow"

Long-Term Goal: To Be Decided

It’s been discussed and tried, there is a thread or two on the subject here. Don’t know the verdict, though.

electrostimulation does not work to strengthen a muscle. all it can do is to avoid muscle shrinkage in case of immobilization. in your case - pc muscle - a good workout = kegel exercise is the way to go. anything else is a waste of time.

Well said Doctor.

You beat me to it.

Give the Forum Guidelines a read before your next post ticktickticker, thanks :)

Why doesn’t it work to strenghten a muscle? A TENS-signal is just a fake nervous input ordering contraction - so it becomes mechanical instead of conscious?

Any of you ever had a TENS session at the physiotherapist? I have certainly experienced sore muscles afterwards, the same soreness that you get from training. I mean, the muscles contract and contract. They work. Not very exactly, but the general area gets a workout.

I will have to agree with the previous statement. I have used electrostimulation in the past for certain muscles and it did work. Very well indeed. Why not with the PC muscle?

Your muscles can be sore after a workout with instigating microtears which result in growth. If you do a “toning” workout, you will still got muscle soreness, but not muscle growth.

(That probably didnt make sense, but it did to me LOL)

Where does the limit go between “toning” and “workout”? Why would it be impossible to put enough current into the muscle via the skin to make it contract hard enough to make it a workout? Seems that happens to some people that get their fingers into a socket?

Too much current equals electrocution, would be my (very amateurish) guess.

The heart muscle gives up because the sinus knot gives out 70 bpm whereas the electric DC current is 50 hz - so the conflict makes the heart try to beat overlapping patterns until it gives up.

My issue is that I don’t see a clear cut line between toning on the one hand and so much current that the cramp is equivalent to workout. I’m not saying that the TENS is useful - it hits a fairly wide area - but I don’t see that the it in principle is impossible?

I guess in theory it could be possible, but I don’t know if it’d be able to load the muscles enough to stimulte growth, without the possibiliy of causing damage.
