How do you measure?

I started out measuring on the side of dick, but after reading a recent post about it I bought a clear ruler and measure from the top. Sure enough, there is somewhere from 1/4” - 1/2” difference, measures longer from the side. Kind of a bummer :-(

I measured 7” BPEL from the side, a little under 6.75” on top. I also bought a cloth tape, and was relieved to see 5.5” EG. I’d used a string before, some have recommended this being more accurate but I don’t see how.

FWIW, I bought a 8” “realistic cock & balls” dildo a while back. It actually measures 7.5” , there is a .5” band at the base where the balls attach - I figure they use the same mold for the model without balls ;-) It measures exactly 6” girth. My cock is around 6.25” NBPEL, and 5.5” EG - it is amazing how much difference .5” girth makes, and 1.25” length. When I first pulled this thing out of the box, it looked monstrous compared to my cock, dwarfing it. I’m using it to visualize the size I want my cock (and also to make sure the wife will be able to handle it ;-)

I can get a different number everytime depending on where I measure from. I measure longest straight down along the right side. I measure shortest straight down along the left side. I measure smack in between if I measure along the top. For me it is a much better personal confidence boost to use the longest measurement. The important thing for me is to make sure I measure that way each time.

I’ve personally found that the measurement along the side and along the top are the same. However I measure along the side for comfort as I’ve found that when erect the skin on the top where you bone press is very taught and is quite painful when pressing in the ruler.

As DLD says above, the important thing is to measure from the same place every time. This ensures that you’re not kidding yourself and will produce the most accurate measurement in relation to gains.

I read this in another post. If you measure to close to the shaft you can miss the bone and actually measure longer. I tried it and they were right. If you want to make sure you are consistent make sure the ruler is on the bone.

That seems a bit odd to me …. does your unit curve to one side? Also, what do you mean by “straight down” ? Would this be a flacid measurement?

Do most of you measure while standing? Or sitting? I find I measure longer when seated, then I stand up and it’s a mind-fuck. I just sort of decided that, whether standing or sitting, I’m only as long as my shortest measurement… so I measure standing, clear ruler on top of shaft.

I may switch to a tape measure because just reaching for a ruler while erect will kill my hard-on, but it may be easier to “cheat” with a tape measure. I dunno.

Unfortunately, PEer’s seemed doom to never measure accurately - sorry, I mean uniformly.

IMO, we have a lot of 8”/8.5”/9”ers who are probably ‘only’ 7.5”ers owing to their ‘incorrect’ measuring methods. I say ‘incorrect’ between commas because many disagree with me.

Some say (as DLD above) that one should take the longest measurement possible, and while it follows a certain logic with regards consistency, it leads to certain confusion.

So we see a guy who posts, for example, 8.5”bp. Does he mean bpfs or bpel? Is he measuring from the top or from the side? Does he measure under the bone or on it?

I always wonder why we never see claims to these sizes in visual posts. Or from guys who claim an inch or two gains in a short period of time..

Many argue one shouldn’t feel the need to back up his claims, and that is a different story. Hell, posting a picture on the Internet of my dick was not easy at first, so I can relate to that.

That is why YOU must decide how to measure, be honest with yourself, most important - be consistent - and take any comments you see about others sizes with relative calm. Do not compare your size with any other that isn’t your own starting size, and you will not feel disappointed with your gains.

I have generally measured standing, tho not for accuracy. It’s just because I want to measure when my erection is hardest, so after some foreplay with the wife I run into the bathroom & measure ;-) I’ve told her about PE, but still haven’t had the courage to measure in front of her :-(

Well, I won’t say “cheat” but it seemed difficult to be consistent with a tape measure. Actually, any kind of measuring seems to “kill” my hard on ;-) so the fastest possible method should maximize my measurements, hopefully. Therefore, I can grab the ruler with one hand while maintaining errection with the other, and measure quickly. It’s harder to pull the tape measure out, which requires both hands and some brain activity.

I’m determined to come up with a more foolproof system, as I posted in another thread about using a type of cylinder.

I have a slight curve, nothing to speak of. In my situation I have measured the same way all of my program so measuring any other way is just awkward for me. Again this brings me to the point of consistency. It is so important to measure the same exact way each and every time from a solid bone pressed pint on the pubic bone. This in no ways a bragging measurement, it is only a solid track-able measurement.

Tape measures are better for me than a ruler because my dick bends a bit and the tape measure can run directly on top of my shaft.

I measure straight along the top and this is the measurement I use on here, but I find when bone pressing I get more if I measure to the left or to the right a bit.

Measuring underneath the shaft seems to add around an extra inch for some reason, I haven’t tried it at my strongest erection but I’m guessing this.

Can anyone tell me why this is the case and why this isn’t the ‘standard’ way of measuring?

I’m having the same problem. It’s hard enough for me to get a damn hard on (I have ED problems pretty often) to begin with. When that rare moment comes that I actually get a rock solid boner, the poor thing deflates when I reach for the ruler. The last time I tucked the ruler between my nut-sack and leg, when I got an erection I quickly yanked it out and measured. I measured like this two or three times that day, because the damn thing was bigger. :) I’ve experienced my first gains in EL, and I’m damn happy.
