New cam lock hanger!

OK, Been thinking about an all day hanger for a long time now. I haven’t come up with anything effective and practical yet… BUT… I did accidentally come up with a “cam lock” hanger. I’m going to try to attach a pic… but here’s the description:

I took the idea of the “drumstick” hanger and added a cam lock feature that eliminates the need for wingnuts and bolts.

Take a 5/8” dowel rod (about the size of your thumb)
get yourself 4 each of #4 x 3/4 pan head wood screws.
find two large bolt washers, or pieces of flat metal or something that is fairly strong and you can drill small holes about 1 3/4 inches apart.

Cut the dowel into two pieces, each about 1 3/4 inches long.

VERY close to the edge of each dowel drill a hole slightly smaller than the #4 screws mentioned above. Make sure the holes at the end of each dowel line up. In other words, drill each hole so that they would meet each other halfway down the length of the dowel IF you were to go that far. This gives you the “cam” effect.

Drill a 2 holes in each of the washers or pieces of metal about 1 3/4 inches apart.

Halfway down the length of each dowel and along the same line as the end holes drill a hole slightly smaller than the #4 screws metioned earlier.

take a look at the pics…. it’ll take forever to explain it, but it’s pretty simple to understand once you get a look at it.

I’m still experimenting with it. I think I need longer “cam levers” - the bolts the string is tied too. the longer the bolt, the tighter the cam dowels will get with more weight. The pic shows it in use first -with no wrap just to illustrate. I wouldn’t recommend using it with no wrap!

if you decide to put one of these hangers together, be ready to experiment with lenth of dowel, length of “cam levers” etc. I don’t think there’s any “one size” that will fit everyone.

Just posted it, don’t try it without the wrap! Any ideas for improvment would be great. I hung with it last night for about 30 minutes (2 x 15 min) with 15lbs. The dowels should be a little longer I think.

Interesting idea. How do you put it on? Do you have to unscrew the screws and then reattach? I would be concerned about the sharp edges of the metal so close the the family jewells.

Because of the cam method of clamping do you find any problems with the dowells becoming tighter as you increase weight? You mention you hung 15lbs for 3 minutes (x2), have you tried it for 15 - 20 minutes in a session?

A while back Zekeman posted a thread for a stretcher contraption that used dowells also. In his design he contoured the dowells to better accomodate the penis while stretching. Have you thought of this?

Pretty intesting idea. How do you get it to grip tight enough that it doesn’t roll that skin down towards the head, as in your big photo unders members pics?

Yeah, that’s alot of metal near big john and the twins, make sure you wrap first, and a decent amount of wrap at that.

It’s basically the same idea as Zekeman had, but this doesn’t require adjusting. The two dowels are on an of-set axle. You just slide it on and the weight tightens it as it tries to pull off.

Here’s an illustration of the concept: You ever go into a building with double doors and push into the doors in the center? you can just walk through the doors no problem, but if you stop halfway and let the springs on the doors squeeze the doors shut on you you can’t back up. and the harder you push the harder the doors try to shut with you between them. That’s the basic idea of the cam lock. Just stick Jr. in, slide it down the shaft to the best spot and pull. The weight will tighten the dowels, more weight = tighter dowels. Kind of “self adjusting. No tools needed, no adjustments needed.

I’m working on a version 2 now, with “swimcap” rubber on the dowels, a little longer dowels and more scientific centering of longer cam-lever screws. i may try to work an “hourglass” shape into the dowels and see if that make a better holding surface.

Check out the photo in the pics section and you’ll see it in action. If you’ve ever done any mountain repelling or sailing you’ve probably seen rope locking gear that is based on the same principle.

OK. Am I correct to say that you put the hanger on by just putting your dick through the hanger between the dowells? Then, when you apply weight by hanging, the offset pivot of the rotating dowells squeeze down on the shaft thus locking it into place.

Unfortunately I’ve never done any rock climbing or sailing so you’ll have to bear with me on this one.

That’s exactly the idea. I’m going to play with it a little more as I refine the idea. I’ve found that the lenth of the screws that the string is tied to is critical to get just right. Too long and the lever effect puts more pressure than needed, too short and the hanger slips for lack of pressure.

Anyhow, I am following this with great interest. I am very familiar with the Bibhanger and now the AFBv2. I’d have to say this has the greatest potential of them all because of the cam lock action (and the easy-ass removal!!) No working on toe or tightening down too much/not enough.

Keep it up. I am checking this thread every day.
